Being in San Fran, you should be in a pretty good position to offer an educated opinion.
Manson, huh?
I can’t disagree.

Then you’ll surely be able to tell me why the Cook County Coroner wore a black fedora and a large diamond ring on his pinky finger and smoked a cigar.

Thanks Nachum.
Royko eventually retracted his statement, and in 1991 in the Chicago Tribune, he called the moniker "null, void and deceased."
Nowadays it's sufficient to refer to Jerry Brown as "Ex-Governor Loser" or just "That Crook".

Slats could probably answer that better than me. I’d have to guess and say it was out of respect for Bernie Neistein.
I read most of Royko’s columns when I was stationed at Grand Forks AFB between 83-86. Haven’t read any of his books.
One of the few Democrats I could read and enjoy and make me laugh.

...and the answer IS: “...to distinguish him from the other suspects.” What does the Cook County coroner use his cigar for? ...and the answer is — “to use as a pointer when he points to the deceased who is bleeding from multiple knife wounds and says “I suspect fowl play.” Can I have a rim-shot, please?! Mel Brooks and Mike Royko — honored in our house.

It is a mistake to call Jerry Brown Moonbeam.
It makes him sound like a well-intended, if goofy, hippie.
Brown, in fact, is a vicious, evil, corrupt, lying ideologue bent on destruction.
Better we should call him Manson.
This person is the first one to say it like it is about ol J.B.
I remember the folks talking about what evil he did to this state back in the 70’s and J.B. was practically all that was spoken about all through the 70’s because he messed up the state so bad, and now he has the nads to run again???
