Afghan President Hamid Karzai confirmed Monday that his office has received "bags of money" from Iran, but insisted the payment was transparent and a form of aid from a friendly country.

The New York Times reported Saturday that Karzai's chief of staff, Umar Daudzai, has been receiving regular cash payments from Iran, which is trying to expand its influence in the presidential palace in Kabul.

Cash payments "are done by various friendly countries to help the presidential office and to help the expenses," Karzai said at a news conference in Kabul, according to the AFP news agency.

"The government of Iran has been assisting us with five or six or seven hundred thousand euros once or twice every year, that is an official aid," said Karzai. "He [Daudzai] is receiving the money on my instructions."

This shouldn’t be “news” but is. The biggest myth foisted upon Americans is that Afghanistan is an independent state invaded by radical islam from Pakistan. Iran has controlled the western half of Afghanistan for centuries. Our presence is secondary.

If Karzai has already picked his friends, which happen to be our enemies, then not only did we lose thanks to Obama, we also need to get the hell out before anymore troops are killed.

How much of tis is going in Karzai’s pocket?

Are we in a bidding war?

Cut off all foreign aid and get the hell out of these countries.

It looks that way and the way our troops are getting killed I think Obama is losing that bidding war.

Obama needs to be impeached, tried for treason and brought to justice.

If we have to come back, NOTHING will be left alive.

According to the article, this has been going on for several years, which means this started under President Bush. It was Bush that insisted Karzi was a good leader and we should support him. Now while I don’t like what Obama is doing, I fail to see where he is on this. Bush is just as guilty for this as anyone. To blame Obama for this means covering up information, which is what democrats do, not us. We are supposed to own up to our mistakes.

Karzai was picking his friends while Bush was in office. While Bush was telling us to support Karzai. He has just as much guilt in this as anyone.

Couldn’t we at least out bribe the Iranians? Believe me, Obama knows plenty of experts in the subject....

Obama knew all about what was going on and while Bush also knew and apparently turned a blind eye to it, Obama is the one that sent thousands more troops, as a part of his surge strategy, that are now in harms way with now the Iranians.

Obama’s Commander-In-Chief now, not Bush.

Yes, but Bush would have done the same thing, if he was still president. I really don’t see any difference between the two with this issue. Obama is just continuing the mess.

The biggest insult is that Karzai is being bought with Euros.

Looks like even dust bowl 4th world countries know we’re inflating our currency into worthlessness.
