“Sorry, but marriage does not include the union of two cornhole surfers. We trust you’ll understand. Sincerely, your hometown source for news and local events”

God bless the Union Leader. First William and then Nacky Loeb, now Joe McQuaid. These people are patriots.

Reported by the Boston Globe, which, in addition to once affirming equating the Bible to toilet paper (”best quote, Survivor TV Show) and things like portraying creationists as apes, and likening Pentecostals who burned Harry Potters books to Hitlers Socialist party, employed a copy editor who adamantly proclaimed that he would not publish reader’s replies in the Globe’s Letters to the Editor critical of homosexuality, erroneously equating such with racism:

The editor, Peter Accardi, also was also incensed by and sought to ban an article by the Globe’s token conservative columnist, Jeff Jacoby, which chastised homosexual activists for seeking to thwart a panel discussion by a Christian group at Harvard that wanted to lure gays to the heterosexual life.

A previous critical column was not allowed, after 15 members of the staff petitioned the editor of the page, David Greenway, with Accardi’s arguing that it was wrong to print an articles that is “based on a negative judgment about a group of people because of a characteristic that is either inborn or formed very early in childhood?”

So much for man being guilty for acting out inherent sinful proclivities, or for choosing to continually justifying acting out bad traits due to nurturing, and seeking to persuade others to affirm and copy them.

However, this time the column was allowed to be printed, but Jacoby responded, “I don’t want to pick a fight with these guys. They’re my copy editors — I need their good will and they need my trust. But I do feel a chilling effect, and I’m afraid that’s exactly what they want me to feel. - http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/1997/cyb19971104.asp
