“Thus, the Tea partiers are obviously a racist cabal rising up to stop progress and return us to a slave state.”
Hi Darkwolf377!
Your comment reminded me of something. I work with some very liberal leaning people. They equate everything said in a conservative tone to racism. A woman responded to my Facebook comment to a “friend” that my perception of Muslims was wrong. I had stated that Juan Williams got a bum rap over his comments and that NPR was out of line to fire him. I also said that Williams vocalized what most Americans feel when they see a Muslim or even hear a Muslim sounding name. The woman jumped all over it, accusing me , politely of course, of lumping all Muslims in the same terrorist boat and that she knew a Muslim family who were so against the terrorist activities of those who share they faith. She also cited the KKK and insisted that she, as a black woman, did not consider all whites accomplices in this organization. She also said that in the days of Jim Crow laws, the KKK killed whole black families and you didn’t hear black people on TV insisting that all white people were racists. Therefore, she ( naturally reasonable, calm, and righteous) was very worried about a Republican win on Nov.2 because the racist momentum will take hold. I am wondering if this woman would take her critiques back if Bubba and his buddies hung out around the airport in their Dodge pick ups and then boarded a plane she was on in their white robes. Would she get a chill up her spine the next time she heard the roar of a truck engine? Undoubtedly she would. Because Williams reaction was visceral and so would her’s be.

Williams was penalized for expressing his emotional reaction. In this society, people are so quick to scream “Racist!” because that way they feel like superheroes who’ve sniffed out one of the worst kinds of people.

What that does, though, is drive underground any honest discussion of racist feelings. Note I said FEELINGS. We cannot help it if certain feelings were bred in us as children that then follow us into adulthood. Whether by parents, other adults, or friends trying to act cool and edgy, racist thoughts are pounded into us before we’re old enough to sort them out for ourselves.

In order to deal with this, people who HAVE these feelings are the FIRST ones to scream “RACIST!” about someone else—thus, they are the heroes, and of course THEY aren’t racists, they’re the ones who called someone else out on that.

What we need to do is to be honest about, again, feelings. This is what Williams basically said: I have these feelings, but we need to use our minds and tell ourselves that’s all these are, feelings, and assert our intelligence and reason them out.

When I was young I had all kinds of racist feelings, but then I learned what I just wrote above, and guess what? I wasn’t afraid of feeling them, so I didn’t squash them down. I admitted to myself I was feeling them, and then I relaxed and thought, “Just treat these people as you would anyone else, be careful around strangers but these ones are no different from ones that look just like you.”

But NPR and all the libs are full of crap when they say they want “dialogue” about race. They don’t want to have a discussion like you and I are having now, they just want to say “You can’t be racist or you’re evil, now don’t SAY anything or else.” And those minor feelings that could evaporate with logic are now pushed down, people resent being dishonest, and those feelings emerge more powerful than ever—thus, the liberals are helping perpetuate racist feelings.

Now, why might THAT be?

Exhibit A: Al Sharpton

I think you know where I’m heading, and we’ll leave it at that.

That’s awfully nice of the woman not to blame all whites because of the actions of other whites. And next time she brings up the KKK, and Jim Crow, give her all the syrupy sympathy you can. Agree with her that there were evil things happening to blacks: The KKK, lynchings, Jim Crow laws, Selma Alabama, Bull Connor, forced segregation, to name a few. And remind her, in a nice, loving way, that the people involved in the terrible treatment of blacks were STINKING RACIST DEMOCRATS!

Just struck me that they didn't have TV back in the 1920s when the KKK was at its high water mark. So no wonder your black friend never saw blacks on TV back then railing at white people. Didn't mean they weren't! Fur shur they weren't doing it on TV.

Remember, for some people history began the day they were born ~
