When I was in 2nd grade and lived at Fort Hood, a friend and I caught a massive alligator snapping turtle in the creek behind our housing area. It was a case of, "now that we caught it, what do we do next?"

Matt's dad helped us get it up to the house, where a game warden came and picked it up. The game warden said that it was the largest turtle he'd ever seen in his career. He took it out to the back end of Fort Hood and released it in an isolated pond so that it could live the rest of its life in peace.

When I was in middle school we latched on to a big snapper while carp fishing a pond at night. We didn’t know what to do with it either so my friend and I decided to go throw it in our neighbors above ground pool as a prank. A couple of days later my parents were talking to them and they told the damnedest story about this stupid turtle that climbed up the stairs of the deck and went in their pool. As a young kid I thought that was hilarious.

We'd put them out back, stand over it, and shoot it multiple times in the head. It was interesting to watch them crawl away from us without a head...
