The depressed Democratic base needs to ask itself some questions: Do women want more representatives who oppose abortion? Do Hispanics want to see immigration reform postponed? Do young voters want college loans slashed? If they dont, theyll set aside whatever valid grievances they may have with Obama and mobilize.
If Democrats lose control anyway, maybe nothing too bad will happen. Obama will veto GOP bills, and politics will be paralyzed for two years as the parties jostle for 2012. But a right-wing Republican takeover of Congress and state capitals isnt something to accept with indifference. Midterms matter, and voters tempted to skip this election should have their heads examined.

is he looking to fill Juans slot at NPR?
Best sentence ever. I hope you don't mind if I steal it as a tag line?
You people at Newsweek have done such a great job minding your own shop, that of course we will defer to your opinions and judgments on politics.
You don’t think Newsweek was worth the dollar? Was Alter 10 cents of the value, perhaps a penny?
Years ago I stopped subscribing to Newsweek..This is a great example of why..
It's as if bankruptcy isn't an issue, either for Newsweek or for our government.
The Obama Veto isn’t a “done Deal” for GOP bills....if the Tsunami is big enough Nov. 2nd, there will be some defections over to the GOP side, which will be proven to be the Majority side.
Its a WIN WIN situation for the GOP, vote against the Tea party wave and you lose in 2012, vote for our VETO over ride o the Marxist and you might be able to keep your job in 2012.
I think a 2/3 veto override vote in both houses is obtainable, and if not, it will be VERY productive pursuing it, and we won’t have to BUY votes.
The American people will be buying votes on Nov. 2nd, OR selling “congressional voters” in 2012.
Its a FUN FUN proposition.
The irony: He has no clue that a voting majority of Americans really do want all the things he believes to be important to go away. Been talking to himself and his ilk for so long he has no clue about anti-Marxist America.
"My God, Margo - did you see this? We've got to DO something! Organize a Democrat fund-raiser, drive the elderly to the polls, SOMETHING!""Todd, what did I tell you about using 'God' in a sentence? It's 'Gaia'! And why should WE do anything? That's the government's job!"
Be my guest.
Actually, I want my change back. :O
GOP’s agenda stopped!? How about the commie-in-chief’s agenda? or the agenda a nancy and harry?
A vote for the GOP is a vote for lower taxes.
A vote for the GOP is a vote for an immigration crackdown.
A vote for the GOP is a vote control spending.
A vote for the GOP is a vote to get tough in War on Terror.
Please think about this before voting.
They're at such a low point, if they can just get one delusional lefty to walk up to the newsstand and purchase one copy of their rag they'll have increased sales by 100%. They're obviously just making a sales pitch to that one guy.
Yes.
There is one issue that has sunk the democrats and that is health care. In spite of lossing Ted Kennedys seat on the issue(and the senate super-majority) Obama pressed on forcing a soluition that pleased neither left or right. Now he(and more directly the rest of the democrats) will pay.
Koz in a respectable shell.
The only time I am close to a Newsweek is in the doctors office. For some reason, that, Oprah and Field and Stream are the only magazines in there. I opt for Field and Stream, even though I’ve read the few that are in there a dozen times.
Put the Newsweek staff in a cage and let them always remind us of who liberals really are.
