FOX News was really the intended target in this fiasco. Unfortunately, NPR suffered the greatest amount of collateral damage. Kind of like when Hanoi Boi John Kerry shot himself in the @$$ with an M-79 grenade launcher while serving in Vietnam.
There is not a doubt in my mind that the inspiration for Schillers righteous indignation was the childish walk-off-the-set theatrics by Whoopie Goldberg and Joyce Behar on The View last week, in reaction to a comment about Muslims made by Bill OReilly.
I would bet anything that Schiller watched that show, tilted her head, and thought, Gee, what a really cool and morally upright thing to do! Take that, OReilly! She wanted to do something just like that so she could be cool, too, and earn some smiles and pats on the back from the liberal cocktail crowd she cavorts with.
So she walked off the set by firing Williams for the insensitive, OReilly-like comments about Muslims which... whaddaya know!... Williams made to that very same Bill OReilly on the hated Fox News channel! It was a perfect storm for Schiller, who reportedly had been looking for an excuse - - any excuse - - to dump Williams precisely because of his employment with Fox News.
She had it all figured out. ...Only it didnt quite work out the way she expected.
Schiller should be fired ASAP. What a freaking idiot.
... berg.

What a shame..........tee hee
NPR was endowed by the far left and now find themselves the ones who clearly need psychiatric assistance.
No more money for NPR or PBS.
As for Sesame Street, let them share their untold millions with their brethren.
Poorly handled??? LOL! How about ham-handed oafishness and gross tackiness?
This incident clearly defines just how liberals undermine and ostracize a person with whom they disagree.
this lady is seriously flawed
“Thursday was a day like none Ive experienced since coming to NPR in October 2007”.
...hopefully, when a new congress takes over, a pink slip will be handed to you after defunding! That will probably become your new “day like none”!
This is just an MSM distraction from the economy. Playing right in to Obamas hand.
If the employees of NPR close up and jump off a bridge all will be forgiven....
Last year, Vivian Schiller was a well-regarded executive in charge of the digital operations of the New York Times Co. (NYT). She was so happy with her job that she welled up with emotion when she told her boss Arthur Sulzberger that she was leaving to become the chief executive of National Public Radio.Schiller, "arguably the nation's most powerful woman in media" per More magazine, has also worked at overhauling NPR. She has added new VPs of development and strategic operations, and its revamped Web site lets nonprofits post its archival footage free of charge.
NPR did not disclose Schiller's salary, but pays its top talent less than commercial media does. Steve Inskeep and Renee Montaigne, co-hosts of NPR's Morning Edition, each earn more than $300,000 a year, according to IRS filings provided by Guidestar. By comparison, Brian Williams, anchor of NBC Nightly News, earns roughly $6 million annually, according to The Boston Globe.
WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP! Apparently, Nina Furstenburg wishing AIDS on Jesse Helms and his children is not a personal attack, by NPR’s “standards”. And apparently, it does not count as a personal attack.
Bottom line is that NPR blew this one BIG TIME. And the local affiliates will pay the price. So long, Cookie Monster, it was nice knowing you.
BTW, wasn’t another black man fired by NPR the same day? NPR is racist! That is what LIBs REALLY think of blacks.
No wonder liberals are afraid of guns. They have an incredible propensity for shooting themselves in the foot.
I read most of the article but gave up. It was spin and defense of NPR action. Mohamet Somebody got a lot of his comments posted to the article without further biographical explanation. And lastly, Williams was having his character assassinated all over again. Screw NPR, All Things being Considered.
What I enjoy about the whole situation is that it will make it extremely difficult for RINOs to justify any further federal money. The wiggle room is gone, the rationalizations are kaput. This is a litmus test, now. A minor one, dollarwise, but first in line.
Every FReeper should get his/her Congresscritter or candidate on the record before Nov. 2.
Like there's a NICE way? Lol!
