Republican Kristi Noem has moved slightly further ahead of incumbent Democrat Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin in South Dakotas election for the U.S. House of Representatives.
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Noem, a state legislator, picking up 49% of the vote, while Herseth-Sandlin draws support from 44%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are still undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Earlier this month, Noem moved to a 47% to 44% edge after slipping behind in September. Since winning the GOP Primary in June, Noem has been slightly ahead of Herseth-Sandlin in every survey but one with 45% to 53% support. The incumbent has earned 41% to 47% of the vote in that same period and held a slight lead only once, 47% to 45% in early September, following news reports about Noem's driving record.
Herseth-Sandlin was elected to Congress in 2004 following the resignation of GOP Congressman Bill Janklow who was convicted of manslaughter after he killed a motorcyclist while running a stop sign at high speed.

FWIW, Herseth-Sandlin ain’t bad looking either.
>>>FWIW, Herseth-Sandlin aint bad looking either.
It would take a lot to get past the “she’s still a ‘Rat” factor.
Kristi is hot!! Stephanie is not!!
Is Thune campaigning for/with her? Giving her $$? As an at-large seat, it’s essentially a Senate race..he should be able to help her..
"To Noem is to love 'em"
I believe this is playing out across America! I still have hope here in CA29 johncolbertforcongress.com
lol...there ya go !
Despite being one of the few Democrats in Congress to vote against the national health care bill, Herseth-Sandlin is contending with an electorate thats very unhappy with President Obama and his policies.
Most people in South Dakota realize that Herseth's vote against the "Healthcare" Bill was meaningless. Her vote was not necessary to pass the bill in the House. So the Democrat leadership allowed her to vote against it in order to bolster her 2010 re-election campaign.
What is telling is that Herseth has gone on record as opposing repeal of the "Healthcare" law. She has stated that she will not vote to repeal the law. Quite frankly, Herseth has always supported enslavement of Americans to the Federal Government through the so-called "Healthcare" legislation. But she does so as a snake in the grass.
This "smoke & mirrors" "Healthcare" vote trick revealed Herseth for what she is, a Pelosi wannabe who is willing to lie to her constituents to advance the Democrats' liberal treasonous agenda. Plus, many South Dakotans are remembering that she is not really one of us.
As a young woman, Herseth couldn't wait to get out of the state. She did so at her first opportunity. She only returned to SD after failing at everything else. The inducement was the possibility of winning SD's lone House seat vacated by Bill Janklow. With her family's political name and massive Democrat money, she hopped on the Congressional gravy train and immediately departed South Dakota, again, to live in Washington, DC.
So that's Herseth. And her opponent, Kristi Noem, is a real hard-working South Dakota gal. That's why Noem is ahead of Herseth.
But it ain't over yet. South Dakotans all have to watch out for the Democrat vote fraud machine which served Tom Daschle so well and still serves Tim Johnson. If the election is close, fraudulent votes will be created for Herseth.
I have to laugh that Herseth-Sandlin’s ads keep showing her with her kid in typical South Dakota settings. Other than campaign stops filming these ads was probably the only time she was in SD since she was elected. Noem is real, born here, raised here, educated here and lives here. I loved Noem’s GMA interview on horseback...she is the real deal.
