Yup. I’m seriously considering just not voting. I expected him to come out swinging. I would expect nothing less from a good Marine. But I also wanted him to come out with ideas that could be used to say “hey, here’s how he’s going to do it” so that we can win this thing. With one week until the election, we need more if we’re going to win with all the democrats in the 51st.

Yes. I signed up to write about how damn frustrated I am with the candidates that have run in the 51st. I want more people like Whitman and Fiorina. They’re smart and they know exactly how to get elected in state that leans way too far to the left. They explain their positions in such a way that convinces moderates and conservative democrats that they should vote Republican, even though they’ve voted democrat all their life. This is what we need to win the 51st. I am genuinely let down. I’ve met Nick Popoditch before and he’s a great guy. But we need someone who will convince moderates and even some democrats so that we can actually have a shot at a Republican district.

I’m just being honest. There’s a reason why we haven’t had a Republican represent this district in a really long time. I think he may be the one to finally unseat Filner, but he needs to start going after the people in the middle. He needs to start convincing them.

I heard him say that they need to keep the revenue in the area by extending the Bush tax cuts and by getting rid of the unknowns that are keeping businesses from investing and growing: cap and tax, regulation fears, Obamacare, etc. The attitude he presented was one where if the government would just get out of the way, most things could heal themselves.

You don’t think that would resonate with both dems and repubs there?

Why would you seriously consider not voting? Do you think that Popaditch did so badly that you can’t even support him? Whether he is able to convince democrats should have no bearing on whether he would make a better representative on Filner. So did his stand on the issues change, that you are thinking to not even vote for him? That’s a strange thing for a person who supports conservatism to say.

Fine. That’s true. I’ll vote for him. But I really think that it’s not going to help. After this election I’m seriously considering moving up North. Apparently the majority of voters have some sense up there. I’d rather do that than stay here and continue facing inevitable losses for another 18 years.
