America was not founded on riots.
It was founded on actions like the Boston Tea Party - which is about the farthest thing from a riot there is.
The Tea Party was a brilliant and carefully planned act of defiance toward arbitrary tyranny.
It was calculated to embarrass the British Crown and to underline the ridiculousness of the Tea Act.
And it did just that.
The Boston Tea Party was not a random, spontaneous undertaking.
Parliament passed the Tea Act to collect money for paying the interest on its National Debt. This followed the Currency Act of 1764 which outlawed the Colonial interest-free currency, thereby throwing the economy into a twelve-year depression.
