Seems to me if her parents are involved in any way against the driver, then their daughter’s blood is on their hands. My kid may argue with me every day, but he is just as conservative as I am.

Fine, Bart, you do that.

I, however, *WILL* order the Rachel Corrie Special at IHOP!

:-P

Wouldn't there be visible signs on her clothing if the dozer actually ran over her? I would think there would be some visible proof of something that big and heavy running over you. I see no marks or tearing on her clothes in this picture - just dirt, which she could have gotten while falling.

Imagine, his, and others, lectures, his voice, vids will be around forever. ( I get a kick out of his Bronx accent ) I think this will really change history, the availability of sound and image as a historical artifact. With the exception of a few portraits, artifacts it is only recently we have now added massive image based media, and though computers and the Internet, at such low costs and public availability. History is in the peoples hands now, no longer a few writers from elite supported institutions.

When a heavy tracked vehicle- be it construction equipment or a tank- runs over a human being, what remains is sometimes initially difficult to identify as human. There is NO doubt whatsoever that the body was crushed.

The person in this photograph was clearly not run over by a bulldozer, because she still has a human shape, rather than being a horrifying, flattened, tangled mass of shattered bone, ruptured organs and spilled gore.

Not necessarily true. Some 28 years ago I witnessed an older International TD-20 dozer go over a man in a gravel pit, the results looked similar to St. Pancake in the photo. Some leaking here and there, but death none the less. What matters is the surface under the person, in this case it looks like sand or loose loam. On the other hand I did see the results of a smaller CAT D5 that did the same thing, backing up and the man had his back turned, on a road project, crushed stone, item 4, staggering what came out the man under the tracks.

As Lonesome in Massachussets speculated, she could have fallen and hit her head on the blade. She is bleeding from the nose and mouth, so that is a possibility.

We all must pick the things that we are willing to die for.

She made her choice and died for it.

She sold herself really cheap.

Sad.

Not being able to see him must have left them feeling a bit...Flat

Her parents were presented a flat painting to remember her by. It seems in bad taste to me.

Let's see if I understand this correctly:

1. The Corries allowed their daughter to go to Israel to take part in protests for the “peaceful” Palestinians.
2. Rachel positions herself in front of an Israeli armored bulldozer. Note to Corries: Normal bulldozers have huge blind spots and operators cannot hear people, even when yelling. The blind spots of armored ‘dozers are even worse, Prudent people understand this and give such equipment a wide berth.
3. Rachel ignored any kind of sane precautions and put herself out of the driver's line of sight.
4. Results were tragic and totally predictable.
5. So, Mr. and Mrs, Corrie, your daughter is dead because she was stupid and not because the ‘dozer driver was malicious or careless. Case closed.

Your summation looks right to me. She killed herself. It was like walking in the traffic lanes on the freeway.

No one ever seriously contended that she was crushed by the dozer, it’s a pure embellishment. Looking at the picture she does not appear to mortally wounded, though you never can tell. Like I said if she’d been taken to an Israeli hospital, a few Motrin, an icepack and a coupla stiches and she’d be back on the old picket line in no time. The Palestinians benefitted from her death. I said that if her parents wanted to confront her killers they should go to a Palestinian hospital. Actually, they should find a mirror.

Lesson learned at an early age, even though my dad said do not poke sticks at a beehive or wasp nest.
