Hopefully, most people will select their next governor on the basis of something other than his or her ability to tell the truth or not regarding extramarital sex.
Seriously lying about a little indiscreet boot-knockin doesnt impede ones abilities to raise grocery taxes, abandon children trapped in failing schools or give up on holding lawmakers accountable when it comes to the state budget, does it?
Of course not and we hope that in picking their poison next month (i.e. liberal Obamaphile Vincent Sheheen or transparently hypocritical Republican Nikki Haley) South Carolina voters will make a decision that they believe to be in the best interest of their wallets and pocketbooks.
Yet for those of you still hooked on Haley-Gate (and judging by our traffic counters, thats most of you), The Charleston City Paper has just published the most exhaustive report on the Nikki Haley-Will Folks affair rumors to date. And yes (unlike this article) its a cover story.
While there is plenty of previously unreleased material included in the City Paper report (penned by Chris Haire), wed like to point readers to one specific excerpt involving reporter Corey Hutchins of The (Columbia, S.C.) Free Times one of several media outlets that was actively investigating the Folks-Haley story prior to it breaking.
On May 13, after talking to a dozen sources and having numerous conversations, Hutchins felt that the time had arrived to speak to Folks directly. We had a pretty long conversation. He didnt admit to it. He didnt deny it, Hutchins says. I told him in that conversation I was probably going to write a story about it.

It’s worth nothing. What is your point in posting this article?
To make you happy
I believed the blogger - her former employee and a former spokesman for Mark Sanford - from the moment I watched her denial. She’s lying, IMO
Actually a politician’s ability to avoid adultery is important to me.
Haley’s innocent until proven guilty, that said.
A person who can betray his wife/family, or her husband/family, is a person of very poor character in my book, and it portends ill for any trustiworthiness. I wouldn’t vote for them.
Never mind what pissant’s point is...what the heck is the point of the article? More salacious innuendos in an attempt to influence the outcome of an election? This guy is neither Woodward nor Bernstein.
Hmmm, he seemed like a lying scumbag to me. But I didn’t pay that much attention. And it was clear he and his cronies had a strong motive to lie.
You’re lying, IMO.
More to the point, from now on, every conservative candidate can be run out of the primary by the accusation of adultery by some two bit Andrew Young-wannabe.
‘Sup, N00b?
Feeling special tonight?
“Sup, N00b?
Feeling special tonight?”
Not particularly.
Been posting on FR for many years.
Had to change my screen name to scrub the internet about a year ago, due to a weirdo.
But thanks for your “concern.”
For those who don't know, it's a free paper.
To any woman considering getting involved in politics, or not:
Never, ever be alone with a man you’re not married to or related to.
And then nobody will be able to talk.
I see you follow the Taliban school of morality.
The Gamecocks.... beat Alabama, lose to Kentucky. What's up with the Old Ball Coach?
As for free papers, they're worth what they cost.
The City Paper is little more than pollution like every other ‘free’ paper it is full of lefty perversions and crappy ads....the MFM paper the Charleston Post & Courier is not much better....too bad this great town doesn't have a good newspaper.
This lame screed is just another case in point—brought to us by the President of The He-Man Women Haters Club, pissant.
Like all Christians, I know fornication and adultery are serious sins that can damn the souls responsible for all eternity if they are not repented of (contrition and amendment of life) before death. It says so in the Bible. It is the unanimous Tradition of all the Apostolic Churches. Most Christians today belong to a Church that teaches that. If you have a problem with it, perhaps liberalism would be a political philosophy more to your liking.
I’m not accusing Ms. Haley of anything, and I’m not saying anyone who is guilty of what she is accused of should be stoned to death, like the Taliban and some (dying) fundamentalist Protestant sects would.
But it’s a fact of life that when a man and a woman are known to be alone together in private, people have a propensity to think impure thoughts about what is going on between them. Shame on those who think those wicked thoughts, it is a sin for them. But since it is known to happen, anyone who wants to avoid giving people an occasion to talk about them negatively needs to avoid being alone in private with someone of the opposite sex. In politics, and in life, your reputation is everything. So if you value your reputation, you will do what it takes to preserve it.
I apologize. Taliban was too harsh a word.
