Supposedly the Mitt part of his name came from his father’s first cousin Milton Romney who played QB for the Bears, 1925-29 and was called Mitt.

I don’t give a dam about Romney’s religion. This is a political battle not some religious crusade.

Then you fail to realize the MSM would make it...not only a religious battle, but a referendum on racism.

If it was Obama vs. Romney, the MSM would go out of its way to constantly emphasize that when Romney was a 30-yo member of the Mormon church, blacks like Obama would not be eligible to be a fellow priestholder or a Scout leader in Romney's church ward. Blacks like Obama were not able to get married in Mormon temples.

So the MSM will ask? What's a 30 yo man like Romney doing in such a racist church?

That is what will be coming down the pike if voters are ill-discerned enough to vote for him...the MSM will have a no-holds barred focus that would tout how conservatives elected a former racist who wears special protective underwear who believes the White House is just a stop on his way to a White Throne as a new god on some planet near Kolob.

Well, I guess, if you are a liberal whack-job trying to do your best to divide your opposition before the election.

LOL...although I think timing wise, it's not so much division at this point, it's more distraction.

(On January 20, 2009, who foresaw such a dramatic change in the political mood as the one the nation has experienced in the past eighteen months?)

Was this guy living on a deserted island? Who didn't know there would be dramatic changes?

Romney is not going to be able to overcome the sacred underwear factor in his quest to become POTUS.

There’s only a few words which I have to say about Mitt Romney. What was his stand on abortion? What was his stand on same-sex marriage? What was his stand on Healthcare? The answer was this: Romney was a player in Massachusetts who was willing to play liberal on all of these issues. I would suspect that he would play about the same as Obama has been were he elected. Just like numerous Catholics or Protestants that have been elected to office, he has supported liberalism on his record so far. That, to me, far more than his religion, is the reason why I would not support him for election to the Presidency of the United States.

Anyways, that’s my reasoning.

Oh, it is the candidates imposing a religious test on the voters then?

Uh, no, not even close.

I agree that, much like those confused over the first Amendment; your own PERSONAL religious test for a candidate (i.e. how they view the salvation of their constituents) is not a State imposed “religious test”, but it un-American in it's formulation.

People of whatever faith, or no faith, are perfectly eligible to be CIVIL office holders in our CIVIL government.

Their kooky religious beliefs should be between them and their magic underwear.

Going after Romney on the issues makes you seem principled, and Lord knows there are enough issues to take Romney on over.

Going after Romney on his religion makes you seem like a bigot.

I don’t care if Romney scares some liberals who think anyone without a D in front of their name isn’t liberal enough. Romneycare is the foundation of Obamacare, and I want nothing to do with politicians who think this garbage up. It shows critical flaws in their character and reasoning. This isn’t the time for half-measures and the slower destruction of America. It is time to turn things around.

So, you think voting for a RINO will advance conservatism? Or, are you a RINO who would simply prefer some other RINO candidate? Tell me, do you really believe voting for a RINO does not equal voting for a lefty demrat?

I’m tempted to suggest that Cornholio should “stuff it”, but he would no doubt consider that a term of endearment.

Not this time you jerk, we will pick our own.

I think that Obama is a danger to my nation, my family and my life. Mitt Romney, as odious as he is, is not.

Their kooky religious beliefs should be between them and their magic underwear.

(Oh, you mean just like a Muslim candidate who might support CAIR or jihad terrorists on the side...that would also according to your hermetically sealed compartments just be between them and their 72 virgins awaiting them?)

I've gone after Romney on both issues as well as the "issues" of his faith. To believe that religion never causes "issues" is to live in a fantasyland...or to ignore Islam...or to ignore the Protestant-Catholics bombing each other in Ireland...etc.

"Bigot" is a french word originating from the perception of how an order of nuns were treating others...I don't know if the perception was real, or just perceived.

Either way, it simply means "intolerant." And if you think everything under the sun done in the name of the "religion," is to be tolerated, then perhaps you need to rethink how many of your educators were liberal and taught you that concept & then continued to reinforce it.

I'm sorry...but not all religious beliefs were created equal...therefore, they don't deserve equal "tolerance."

There is truth...and there is falsehood...and falsehoods are not reservation holders where you have to reserve a room for them either in your local hotel room, or in your bedroom, or in this case, the voting booth.

What kind of a name is "Mitt?"

It's a nickname, like Muffy or Jonesie. His real name is Willard.

Just "say no" to the Rat-Boy RINO.

In America, in our Civil society, all religions are treated by the law as equal.

My teachers on this subject have been Madison and Jefferson. They despised that sort of bigotry as anti-American as well, and they did not at all propose that some religions be considered ‘more equal than others’, or that some be “tolerated” while other accepted, or that some religions were “truth” while others were “falsehood”.

As I said to you before, going after Romney on the issues makes you look principled; going after Romney on his religion makes you look like a bigot.

That may well be the sentiment you are hoping to engender, but it doesn't make anybody look good or principled or like a patriotic American.

Wasn't that long ago that people were saying the same thing they say about Romney that they said about Kennedy and his Catholicism. It didn't make them look good then, it wasn't effective, and those that engaged in such fear-mongering and religious bigotry should be ashamed of themselves.

Has Romney admitted that the disastrous Massachusetts health care plan that he helped create is a disaster?
NO!
Has Romney said that he is opposed to the federal health care purchasing mandate?
I don’t think so.
Has Romney said that he is committed to repealing 0bamacare?
Not really.
Without taking an unequivocal stand against 0bamacare and it’s unprecedented and unconstitutional mandates can Romney be considered a conservative?
Hell no!
Can a non-conservative/rino like Romney win the Republican nomination in 2012?
I pray not. He better not.

Corn is a puke but he was right when he characterized Romney as a chameleon.
