I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the NAACP, like a lot of these groups, makes these people more important than they would otherwise be in the mainstream. If the NAACP didn’t exist, then these people would be anonymous, normal people, something that they apparantly can’t handle being. Normalcy would for some reason make their lives imserable. They have to be SOMEBODY or they will be miserable. Like the BLack Panthers and thier self appointed ranks.
