I’ve Made My Decision – Tom Tancredo For Governor
The Constitution Club ^ | 10-18-10 | Dave the Sage

Posted on 10/19/2010 6:19:35 PM PDT by TheConservativeCitizen

For any who have been following the Colorado gubernatorial race it as been an ugly, disastrous, GOP bungle in the middle of what should only be a Republican year. The hand-picked GOP establishment candidate was former congressman Scott McInnis. I actually like the guy, but he tended to be a flip-flopper and the TEA party types didn’t trust him. He was opposed by no-name businessman Dan Maes who came out of nowhere riding the anti-establishment mood to emerge from the state convention with strong backing and a place on the primary ballot.

Within just a few days the press launched a well-placed and apparently true story about a plagiarism charge against Scott McInnis which had occurred for his work on water issues for an obscure foundation. What isn’t really known is that the $300,000 “fellowship” was little more than ”pay-for-play” influence money for wealthy Muslim Pakistani Seeme Hasan to get her son Ali into Colorado Republican politics with the help of a fairly popular former congressman.

The plagiarism ”scandal” was just enough for the strongest of the two GOP gubernatorial candidates to be effectively knocked out of the race. At this point a number of backroom ideas and attempted deals started bubbling to the surface. Basically, the GOP establishment wanted Scott McInnis to win the primary. He would then be promised whatever and step down, and the party bosses would select a new candidate for governor to face Denver mayor John “Loopy” Hickenlooper in the fall.

But instead Dan Maes won the primary and immediately refused to play along and drop out for any new candidate. He figured he’d won fair and square and was the legitimate and legal GOP candidate for governor. And technically he was.

You are helping Hickenlooper win.

sometimes you need some distance to see the big picture.

The big picture is that only a unified GOP front can defeat a liberal Democrat.

Do you want the liberal Democrat to win?
Dont you care to defeat him?

Can someone explain the significance of this remark?

You prove the point - Republicans are more fiscally responsible.

The lowest rise in 40 years was under a solid Republican majority in Congress ... the same solid Republican majority that balanced the budget, by slowing spending growth, from 1994 to 1999. As % of GDP, spending under GOP Congress then went DOWN.

On November 2nd, America will return GOP to a House majority. And they will prove to be more fiscally conservative than the outrageous tax-and-spend Democrats under Pelosi.

Okay. You win. Your party is not quite as bad as the communists in the Democrat Party.

Of course, that isn’t nearly good enough. At least, if you’re actually a conservative.

“Of course, that isn’t nearly good enough. “

yeah, so let’s all sit on our hands and let the communists win and run what’s left of USA into the ground. (/sarc)

You obviously have never heard a word I’ve ever said if you think I in any way advocate sitting on our hands.

If anyone has done that, it’s been Republican “leaders.”

"With a willing conservative president they would need a super majority in Congress to repeal any law."

What? A simple majority in both chambers is all that is constitutionally necessary to pass or repeal any law. Two thirds of both chambers are needed to override a presidential veto. The Senate is able to muck things up a bit with its sixty votes to break a filibuster tradition, but this practice of filibuster is not mentioned in the Constitution. Indeed it could be construed to be unconstitutional, however, the Constitution does give each chamber the right to set and enforce its own rules. So the filibuster is sort of a dubious, but still legal practice of the Senate. In summary, all that's necessary to pass or repeal laws or legislation are simple majorities from both chambers along with presidential approval of the legislation.

He is not a voter in Colorado.

Cite me chapter and verse where we are to vote for the lesser of two evils. I'll be waiting.

God is pro-life.

Yes, that is true.

You think he wants you NOT to care about that difference?

I have held torn apart aborted babies in my very hands that I got out of municipal trash dumpsters late at night in Los Angeles. Don't even try to lecture me about the importance of life. I've seen evils that you could only imagine.

“Render unto Caesar...”

Say what? Honestly, I have no idea what you're talking about.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Excellent! Now, tell me which of the three candidates running for governor in Colorado has done this.

BECAUSE THEY ARE TAX-AND-SPEND DEMOCRATS!

History shows us that Republicans do the same thing. Why is that?

Dont bear false witness by smearing the Republicans as just as bad as Democrats. That is 100% false.

So you're telling me that "Democrat" sin is more severe than "Republican" sin?

As I've stated before, I have been a registered Republican most of my adult life - but let's not bury our head in the sand.

these pseudo Christian posters really make me laugh...

don't they know that God is looking for MEN to be LEADERS and to make the best choices here on earth....

some of you had better stop thinking about me...me...me..what I want..what I need....what I demand and start thinking of trying to stop the onslaught of communism and evil that is the whole of the dimocrat party....

I believe God will judge swiftly those that let our country, our people become a godless communist country .....

You are helping Hickenlooper win.

No, I'm honoring God's Word. Show me where I'm biblically wrong.

sometimes you need some distance to see the big picture.

Oh, I see. The FACT that I've known and followed and voted for Tom Tancredo for many, many years makes me less able to assess his qualifications for governor than some poster living in Texas?

The big picture is that only a unified GOP front can defeat a liberal Democrat.

I'm more concerned about fearing God and obeying His Word than I am putting a Republican in office just because they're Republican. Show me a godly man of solid Christian character and I will be more than happy to vote for him.

Do you want the liberal Democrat to win?

No. That's why we need godly men running for office. We don't have men that fear God running for Colorado governor.

Dont you care to defeat him?

I would love to. Show me the godly man who fears God and I will happily vote for him.

and God has told you to turn over you whole life and the lives of your children to the state?

No. That is why we homeschool. That is why we also place great importance on the fear of God.

...to indebt your children and your grandchildren and great grandchildren?....

You mean like when my Congressman - Tom Tancredo - voted in late 2008 for the $700+ Billion TARP bill?

You mean like when I called all of his offices and solicited over 200 other people to do likewise - and we were assured that Tom was going to vote AGAINST the bill?

You mean how Republicans keep talking about "balancing the budget", but they won't address the real issue of debt-based currency, and the claims on the future labor of our children and grandchildren that entails?

...to allow foreigners to steal your birhtright and the birthright of all of your offspring?...

That's very important to me, but not as important as the fact that we have become indentured servants to the international banks and the Federal government - thanks to Democrats AND Republicans.

Name me the last Republican administration that has had EVEN ONE YEAR! of a balanced budget. I'll be waiting for your reply...

.

“If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” Tancredo said. “That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do. If I am wrong, fine, tell me, and I would be happy to do something else. But you had better find a deterrent, or you will find an attack.”
Tom Tancredo

In a speech given at a campaign event for Colorado Senate candidate Ken Buck on July 8, 2010, Tancredo said of President Barack Obama, “...the greatest threat to the United States today, the greatest threat to our liberty, the greatest threat to the Constitution of the United States, the greatest threat to our way of life; everything we believe in. The greatest threat to the country that our founding fathers put together is the man that’s sitting in the White House today.” [102][103]

On July 22, 2010, in an editorial in the Washington Times, Tancredo said that Congress should bring impeachment charges against President Obama.

Because the worst of all worlds is when you pretend like you have an immigration policy, you make coming into the United States without our permission illegal, and then you actually don’t enforce it.
Tom Tancredo

I believe that what we are fighting here is not just a small group of people who have hijacked a religion, but it is a civilization bent on destroying ours.
Tom Tancredo

If we in fact were to begin enforcing the law against people who are hiring people who are here illegally, we would go a long way towards eliminating the problem.
Tom Tancredo

Radical Islam has been the foe of Christendom for centuries.
Tom Tancredo

The Democratic Party looks at massive immigration, legal and illegal, as a source of voters.
Tom Tancredo

The word nobody wants to use, but you see if you are here illegally, that’s the punishment, deportation.
Tom Tancredo

They view massive immigration as a massive infusion of potential voters for the Democratic Party, and therefore will do nothing, absolutely nothing to stop that flow of legal or illegal entrance into the country.
Tom Tancredo

To be called a sovereign nation, a nation has to be able to control its own borders. It is controlling your own destiny in a way, and we don’t control our own borders.
Tom Tancredo

We can control our borders, we just choose not too.
Tom Tancredo

We have terrorists coming into the country both through our Northern and Southern borders.
Tom Tancredo

We have to fight radical Islam wherever it exists. It’s in Afghanistan, it’s in Saudi Arabia, throughout the Middle-East in big numbers and it’s in the United States.
Tom Tancredo

Tancredo should be president- H*ll, he should be president of the universe.

I agree with you that Tom Tancredo is less than ideal.

But, based on his expressed support for Personhood and the facts of our current situation, I’ve gone ahead and endorsed him, with reservations...reservations which I have publicly expressed via national press release.

Friend, there have been few conservatives in America in the last couple of years who have been pickier than me when it comes to candidates for anything.

I understand how the TARP vote could be a disqualifier. It was a horrid action for any politician to take. It’s your conscience. It’s your vote. It’s you who is going to have to answer to God for what you do with that sacred franchise. God bless you for understanding that and applying it.

But, in the absence of more ideal candidates stepping forth, and organized principled conservatives doing the hard work that is required to make sure they are on the ballot in the general election, in the interest of beginning to break this false notion that we have to vote for either Republicans or Democrats, I’m going to help give give Tancredo a chance, with continuing watchfulness and whatever accountability we can help provide.

Great, start from 1965, and miss out on the Eisenhower administration.

You do know right, that this has been a feature since 1917. What important event happened to massively change the electorate in 1917? Go on, I’ll wait.

What’s your point?

I’m doing nothing more than pointing out the silliness of the Republican defenders depending on the same old tired “they’re worse than us” arguments.

We’re fighting a two-legged socialist beast, and the nature of that beast is not altered in any appreciable way by the fact that one of its legs might be an inch shorter than the other.

The point being that since 1917, the budget expanded with the war, and never went all the way back down. Why? Women had the vote, and they voted in favour of entitlements.

Ann Coulter said this exact same thing. So we have two courses. Edumacate our womenfolks as to why we need to let the market work, and stomp down hard on all the socialists. “For the chillun” ain’t an argument.

Listen, Drama Queen, Tom has been an honorable man for America. If that conflicts with something you call “God” then maybe you should get a better God.

It doesn't sound like it by your response.
