For any who have been following the Colorado gubernatorial race it as been an ugly, disastrous, GOP bungle in the middle of what should only be a Republican year. The hand-picked GOP establishment candidate was former congressman Scott McInnis. I actually like the guy, but he tended to be a flip-flopper and the TEA party types didnt trust him. He was opposed by no-name businessman Dan Maes who came out of nowhere riding the anti-establishment mood to emerge from the state convention with strong backing and a place on the primary ballot.
Within just a few days the press launched a well-placed and apparently true story about a plagiarism charge against Scott McInnis which had occurred for his work on water issues for an obscure foundation. What isnt really known is that the $300,000 fellowship was little more than pay-for-play influence money for wealthy Muslim Pakistani Seeme Hasan to get her son Ali into Colorado Republican politics with the help of a fairly popular former congressman.
The plagiarism scandal was just enough for the strongest of the two GOP gubernatorial candidates to be effectively knocked out of the race. At this point a number of backroom ideas and attempted deals started bubbling to the surface. Basically, the GOP establishment wanted Scott McInnis to win the primary. He would then be promised whatever and step down, and the party bosses would select a new candidate for governor to face Denver mayor John Loopy Hickenlooper in the fall.
But instead Dan Maes won the primary and immediately refused to play along and drop out for any new candidate. He figured hed won fair and square and was the legitimate and legal GOP candidate for governor. And technically he was.

I keep hearing how Tancredo voted TWICE for TARP... how?
Here is his voting record:

I thought the Pennsylvania GOP was a massive fuster cluck between the Country Clubbers in the Philadelphia area and us conservatives in the rest of the state, but it sounds like we have nothing on Colorado’s GOP. Tancredo made a great call when he decided to run third party. I hope he can pull it out!
” Bottom line ... Hickenlooper brings something to the table, he’s a successful business executive and a much better than average mayor of Denver.”
Yeah, sure, Chickenpooper is for hiring illegal aliens to run those businesses. One of them killed a cop and ran back to Mexico. Chickenpooper said he would hire the guy again.
“Tom Tancrado is a bomb thrower ... no real established credentials just a lackluster pubbie who is riding the anti-Obama mid-term election wave. “
You mean Tom Tancredo has nothing besides being a previous Conrgessional Representative to Colorado?
What’s Chickenpooper got besides being a lousy Democrat mayor that is an illegal alien supporter and lousy businessman that has been on the take for 20 years?
You are no doubt a flaming liberal: A typical one that claims conservatism then spouts all the liberal bullsh*t talking points, running conservatives down while supporting liberals.
Don’t pee on our legs and tell us it is raining. Beat it, ya lying bum!
A replay of the 2004 Bush/GOP disaster?
So bad, four years later Rove and Bush and their big gov GOP groupies hand the White House over to college campus Communist from Chicago...Or Africa...
He isn’t a RINO, is is a straight up Republican who never deviates from the mainline Republican Party position. Conservative in name only, perhaps. IMO, he is a good guy. Wrong in this case on Tancredo because Tancredo is way ahead. He was wrong on the immigration bill initially, but he came around to the right side.
They held two votes for TARP.
The first vote was procedural to see if they had enough support. Tom Tancredo voted for it.
The second vote was the final vote for the bill. Tom Tancredo voted in favor of it once again.
Two 'Yes' votes...
Interestingly, the author does not see fit to mention that, while Tea Partiers distrusted McInnis, by contrast Mr. Maes was the Tea Party favorite....
What a cute little bit of misdirection....
Ok, if you want to be a puppet to democrat tactics, go ahead and take that line. Almost as bothersome as the guy on here admitting he will vote for Hickenlooper.
Mayor chickeneffer has the blood of Donny Young on his hands, along with every citizen killed by a criminal illegal in his sanctuary city. You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting a thug like him. Maybe you should move your act to DU. And no, I don’t give a dam how long you have been a freeper.
So Bush and Republicans created social security , medicare, medicaid , welfare, HUD , government schools etc? That's a lie. Democrats created all that plus thousands more agencies.Democrats had Control of congress for many decades before 1994, in the 1930’s etc.
If you take away all these programs and agencies .And start with zero government when Republicans finally took over Congress in 1994 with only a simple majority you will see that there is virtually no government in 2006 when Democrats/socialists took over again.
Republicans couldn't repeal social security, medicare etc because they didn't have a super majority in the Senate.
Look the growth of social security and medicare alone since 1994 and that and inflation is what the liberal media says is Republicans growing government . It is just slander and you and your cohorts here and elsewhere repeat it.
The democrat/socialist trolls seem to be out in full force.
Excuse me?
Exactly how am I being a "puppet" to Demon-rat tactics? Is it by not voting for a guy who had no qualms about ensaving my progeny to the tune of $700+ billion dollars? Does that make me a "puppet"? Curious...
What would you say if the Republicans took over and immediately passed a balanced budget bill that was retro-active to the government fiscal year that just started. Would you be happy with that? I'd really like to know.
He voted for it TWICE is a propaganda move by the left to weaken Tancredo, and you fell for it. Good luck with that.
That's too bad. The year is 2010. That means it's a census year. That also means it's a redistricting year. That means the new gov and legislature will set the state and congressional races for the next 10 years. Good luck rolling that devastation back. Ironically, this is one of those scenarios where party does trump person. And the irony is that it's going to take a third party run to prevent the Dems from controlling the state and congressional seats - not to mention Judicial appointments - for the next ten years.
Live in Colorado Springs and rarely, if ever, vote democ'Rat. I'm a seasoned citizen, a Vietnam era Marine.
All of those things are positives. Except the Rat part. I'm a former Marine also and used to be a democrat. Check out this post to get a summary of one of the reasons I'm not anymore.
Bottom line ... Hickenlooper brings something to the table, he's a successful business executive and a much better than average mayor of Denver.
But, more than that he's a democrat. That tells me on moral, ethical, integrity issues he's about whatever it takes to give power to those I am sworn to oppose by the same oath you took. I'm a broken glass conservative voter.
This is the type of individual we need in government today ... in spite of their party affiliation.
Man that reminds of "if it feels good do it." You're smarter than this. It's time to look in the mirror and decide, "Is this really all I want out of life? Is this shallow, non-confrontational populist BS all that I'm capable of believing and convincing others of?"
Tom Tancrado is a bomb thrower ... no real established credentials just a lackluster pubbie who is riding the anti-Obama mid-term election wave.
As an American Citizen If you're not pissed off right now you're not paying attention. Tancredo is exactly who we need in office to reshape and reorganize Colorado politics. We're not a Blue State. We're maybe a purple state, but we're not a Blue State and that is what Hickenlooper will deliver for the next 15 years. I'm not trying to lecture, or slam you. I'm trying to think out loud and hopefully sway you to cast an early vote that changes our destiny.
Vote for Tom Tancredo!
Regards,
TS
And they would need a 2/3 majority to override an Obama veto to repeal any law. With a willing conservative president they would need a super majority in Congress to repeal any law.
You're funny.
A) I live in Colorado's 6th CD - Tom Tancredo's Congressional District when he was in office.
B) I live in the most conservative county in the state. There is not one elected Democrat.
C) I am a Republican precinct committeman and, as such, have a seat on the county's Republican central committee.
D) I explained to you how he voted for it twice, and you seem to not understand enough about procedural voting.
Again, good luck with that.
A replay of the *2006* Bush/GOP disaster?

You spew liberal media lies.
Did you major in stupidity?
Ya think Bush and GOP did good in 2006?
How about in 2008, slick?
So bad, *TWO* years later.....
