Nevada Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle, perhaps in an attempt to prove she's color-blind, instead may have ended up insulting some Hispanic high school students by apparently not being able to distinguish between them and Asians.
The remarks were made last week during a discussion about her campaign ads that focus on illegal immigration.
In audio recordings released by The Associated Press and Nevada newspapers, Angle can be heard defending those ads, even suggesting they're focused on the threat posed by the United States' "porous" northern border with Canada.
Asked why she features images of Latinos in her ads, Angle said she's "not sure" they are Latinos. Then she explained she's not sure about the students' ethnic background either.
"So that's what we want is a secure and sovereign nation and, you know, I don't know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don't know that," Angle said at the meeting, which was organized by the high school's Hispanic Student Union.
At this point, grumbling could be heard in the crowd, and one woman muttered: "I hate this lady." Angle went on to say that the country is "a melting pot."
"My grandchildren are evidence of that. I'm evidence of that. I've been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly ," she said.
Angle's grandchildren are half-Hispanic, but according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, an Angle campaign spokesman told the newspaper that a reporter once mistakenly described her as Asian.
The spokesman told the Review-Journal that Angle was trying to make a point about how "this country is a melting pot and you cannot judge people based on stereotypes or the way they look."

Troll alert
Goodness, she is such a good lady but she cannot help but step in it. She is refreshing in that she is new, but she is really unpolished and it shows here. Perhaps she should just spend the rest of her time in GOTV planning and running tv and radio ads.
I think our country is better off without such hypersensitive people. People get mistaken for all sorts of things. They need to get over it already.
Unfortunately, she may have just given the election to Reid.
(sighs) Vote for Angle, she sucks less.
“Angle’s grandchildren are half-Hispanic”

............GRANDCHILDREN...........
Each grandchild is descended from 6 people. Are 3 of them hispanic?
Now if she’s the first “Asian” legislator, what time does a train arriving 2 hours late pass Center City?
insert foot into mouth like this...
You wish, noobie.
Troll alert is right:

RC Clayton to Eleutheria5
As a supporter of Castle and someone who believes ODonnell cannot win, I still cannot defend the ongoing attacks by Rove following ODonnells primary win. Rove has shown himself to be a blatant hypocrite.

Because voters like Reid's foot in the mouth moments better?
Really, she’s said much worse and it’s all been out there.
It’s been well established that she will make awkward comments like this from time to time.
I can’t imagine this will change many votes.
RC Clayton is a TROLL.
Thanks for the post. With the political climate in this country, and the all-out, unabashed assault on our Constitution, I’m taking a No Prisoners approach to trolls. They’re the enemy.
On the contrary, I have given several hundred dollars to Sharron Angle’s campaign. However, unlike you, I do not let my support blind me to the fact that she has yet again committed a serious blunder a right before the election which very well may cost her the seat.
RC Clayton is a TROLL, which is precisely why he’ll stump for Reid:
“Unfortunately, she may have just given the election to Reid.”
Yes, a troll alert.
Because the MSM will use this incident to bash Angle at a most crucial time in the campaign while running interference for Reid.
BS Comment of the Day.
