Among the ideas is to bring a series of bills to the floor, as often as once a week, designed to cut spending in some way.

This is a good thing, and I fully support it. Even if those bills fail or are filibustered/vetoed, it shows the new congress is serious about trying to address problems. I hope these bills are not all symbolic fluff-cutting; I want some bills with serious cuts included in this flurry.

Longer term, GOP leaders say they recognize they may have to compromise with Democrats in tackling broader problems.

This on the other hand is a little unsettling. Politics are of course the art of compromise, but after all we have gone through, they had better not start compromising on our core principals. The article is a little vague on what is specifically meant by this - it could be a trial ballon for traditional GOP surrender, or it could be simply a statement to shut up early complaints from the left. But it feels more likely to be bad than good.

“I hope these bills are not all symbolic fluff-cutting;”

I have some bad news for you...

What do you think “in some way” is supposed to mean? Particularly from the guys who are already talking about concilliation before the election is even held?

This is an idea which will never happen, is not meant ever to happen. It is boob bait-- sounds good, won't happen. If the GOP wants to prove their bona fides, they can start by passing a budget--which we never got this year from the 'rats btw-- and pass it at about the levels of 2007.

Then they can defund all of obamacare, and dismantle the cancerous bureaucracy the bill creates.

If they do that then they can go play their little reindeer games like they always do.

************************************************************

Obama announced just last week that he has no intentions whatsoever of compromising with a GOP-controlled congress and that Republicans are going to have to be the ones to JOIN HIM to get anything accomplished!

I swear, if the GOP blows this huge mandate we’re about to hand them by caving with the Dems on major legislation, then I’ll be officially FINISHED with the GOP and would be willing to vanquish them by putting all my future time, energy, and financial resources into a Constitutional-based third party. The Republican party is on thin ice right now as it is.
