I’ve never been able to understand the Republicans go along to get along mentality.

I think it is largely a localized Washington phenomenon. The GOP establishment appears to suffer from an inferiority complex, developed largely as a consequence of being the party of "anti-government" in a town owing its existence almost exclusively to government. They become reflexively meek and subservient, like pets invited into the living room on special occasions, but firmly excluded from sharing the couch.

Wow, this didn’t take long... Darrell Issa is currently on as a guest on Rush’s radio program. I can’t wait to hear this!

Rush’s rant to Issa has to be one of the greatest moments in the history of his radio program. I loved it when he told the congressman that we don’t give a damn about rewriting house rules and procedures, we just want to see the Republicans stop Obama from destroying the country, even if that means throwing him in jail!!

Darn, I missed Issa on Rush’s show, but it sounds as though I was wrong, that Issa is willing to compromise. I guess we need to send Issa a message. Does anyone have his email address?

"It's pretty clear the American people expect us to use the existing gridlock to create compromise and advance their agenda," said Rep. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.). "They want us to come together [with the administration] after we agree to disagree."

I couldn’t believe that Issa actually intended to return to politics as usual and go back to that “shared power” routine. I see no reason not to give the Democrats the same treatment that they gave us. We won, elections have consequences, should be the response.

Great job, thanks for the post.
If the Republicans compromise with the Dems, then it's time to create a new 3rd party.
Rush is on fire about this and Governor Palin mentioned it too.

If they “compromise” and give us Amnesty then 2012 doesn’t matter. The country is over. Amnesty will give us a permanent Democrat majority. The Republicans will be a rapidly fading “third party” and eventually illegal even without a Constitutionalist or any other party in the works.

There is no “cutting” from Obamacare. It gets repealed 100% or it will continue to grow from whatever is left after a “trim” and will absorb all of healthcare and most of the rest of a shrinking economy. The law disasterously affects just about every part of the economy and society.

Oh, I agree.

My point was just that when Democrats say "compromise" they mean "let's see what the Republicans are willing to give up". It never goes the other way.

Another issue is abortion. I've debated Leftists on this. they say "What if a twelve year old girl is pregnant? Would you make her have a baby? What if she were raped? Would you make her go through that? What if she were raped by her father??? And the baby is going to be brain-damaged????? Are you saying you oppose abortion even then??"

I say, "Let's pass a law -- twelve year old girls who have been raped by their father and who are carrying a brain damaged baby can have an abortion, but abortions are banned for everyone else."

Democrats don't go for that. They don't go for anything. They want specific, sad stories to come out so that they can claim some high moral ground and then walk off with the whole ball of wax. It's ridiculous. I don't believe in compromising with the Democrats on a darn thing -- but I do like tweaking them and showing them that they don't want what they say they want -- they want a whole lot more.

They most definitely don't want compromise, if compromise is used in its proper sense. That's the last thing they want.
