You'll lose that youthful idealism as you mature.

You don't fight for the right to vote. No one ever has. Corrupt career politicians send you to kill other poor people in order to expand the status quo. It's that simple.

Well...I'm in my 40's...and I lost my youthful idealism a long time ago. What I haven't lost is my honor. that is one thing no man can take away from me.

If I am to be called a "youthful idealist" for acting honorably...then so be it. At least the casual observer will be able to tell the difference between me and Hugo Chavez.

“Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.” - Sophocles

And...since we are talking about something "idealistic"...Honor (which means you obviously don't care for it)...Here is my favorite quote on Honor. It is from Gov. Richard Coke (Tex...1876). I had to memorize it while a member of the cadet corp at Texas A&M. I live my life by this code...which is why I find your suggestion so disgusting:

"Let your watchword be duty, and know no other talismen of success than labor. Let honor be your guiding star in your dealing with your superiors, with your fellows, with all. Be as true to a trust reposed as the needle to the pole. Stand by the right even to the sacrifice of life itself, and learn that death is preferable to dishonor.
