Pennsylvania's leading gun violence-prevention organization, CeaseFire PA, has endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato. The gun-control advocates support Onorato's position on a particular piece of legislation.
The "Castle Doctrine" bill lawmakers may send to the governor's desk expands the definition of personal property and removes the duty to retreat. In effect, it would allow people to defend themselves with deadly force when attacked.
Onorato opposes the legislation.

So has the NRA endorsed him yet?
lol
Would not surpirse me if they did.....this is my last year as an NRA member (though I will keep my car decal on just to piss off liberals)
The NRA is getting a bit of a bum rap this year. They will support a pro-gun incumbent regardless of party. If they hope to have influence with Democrats in the future it is years like this that show they are truly a single issue organization. Not that I like it, but it makes sense.
A bum rap.....really?
Why does the NRA think that supporting candidates who want to remove virtually all freedoms such as healthcare will be good for guns down the road?
The NRA thinks that there will be years in the future when Democrats have the majority again. They want to have influence with the single issue of gun control with those people. It’s distasteful but good politics.
Yes. And if they want to have some influence in that, they have to play the sleazy game of politics. Look, I hope everyone with a D after their name loses this year. I just know there will be some day in the future when the shoe will be on the other foot and we’re pulling every string available to keep the 2nd amendment as it was written. I don’t think that this is a kind of election where an NRA endorsement for a Democrat will mean much.
I can’t say what I actually feel about clowns like Onorato.
Clowns entertain people. People like Onorato swear an oath and then break that oath by not defending the 2A.
Traitor is closer to the truth.
Absolutely right.
Why does it look bad this year? Because 2008 left us with a lot of Democrat incumbents.
When we clean them all out this year, it’ll be the Democrats in 2012 saying that it’s the “National Republican Association.”
You just can’t win if you’re a single-issue nonpartisan organization.
What you said is spot on however: never once has any of the NRA critics thought past 2010, when the pendulum inevitably swings the other way and we need those pro-gun Democrats once again.
