With just over two weeks until Election Day, several Minnesota newspapers are endorsing the Independence Party's Tom Horner for governor. The Star Tribune's editorial board says Horner has the best chance to overcome partisan gridlock in St. Paul. The Forum of Fargo, the Duluth News Tribune and the Bemidji Pioneer also endorsed Horner Sunday. Polls have shown Horner well-behind both Democrat Mark Dayton and Republican Tom Emmer.

Seems the press doesn't even want to endorse the Democrat. The Independence party here went moderate, and now it's obvious they are mostly going to take votes and endorsements from the Democrats. The Republican Tom Emmer is a great candidate, and I don't think the others are even going to be close, well they did get Al Franken elected, but that was before everything really soured.

Even funnier, you know Republican Emmer’s got momentum, well the media bumbles for the lowest tier candidate;

The Star Tribune noted that it traditionally publishes its endorsement for governor closer to the election. The newspaper said it endorsed a week early in order to speak directly to Minnesotans who are concerned about supporting a third-party candidate trailing in the polls and fearful of electing a candidate they do not like.

Maybe someone who still lives in MN can explain why Target, (owned by the Daytons) gave money to Emmer.

Duluth is in Jimmy Bikeshort’s district as is Star & Sickle

Duluth is part of that district. The race is tighter than might have been expected. A keyword search for “oberstar” turns up several recent articles.

Yes, the Duluth News Tribune in the heart of the 8th district (Oberstar’s). They also ran a big unpaid ad for Oberstar with a front page story on the $100,000,000 in stimulus money spend in the region.
No balancing story about the 1.2 trillion deficit Oberstar voted for.

Well, they know Dayton best. :-)
(Seriously, though, Target has shown an inclination to support pro-business candidates and causes, and there's hardly anyone more anti-business that the trust-fund Trotskyite, Dayton.)

Isn't Minnesota the same state that gave us 'Independent' Jessee (the buffoon) Ventura?
Just wondering what's in the water in all those lakes?

Maybe someone who still lives in MN can explain why Target, (owned by the Daytons) gave money to Emmer. Mark Dayton owns no Target stock and the Dayton family owns a tiny fraction of one percent. They have not had any control over Target for at least 30 years.

Minnesota also gave the nation the clown, Franken.
Just wondering what's in the water in all those lakes?
I think those morons are too busy swatting mosquitoes to learn how to read and stuff.

Isn’t Mark Dayton’s assets just inherited wealth? Might be some lack of appreciation for the hard work that made that fortune. Now he may just a bored rich kid, like...

Jesse Ventura was the ruin of the Independence party, the moderate turn that Ross Perot didn’t intend. Ventura also said in his book he supported a consumption tax, but did nothing to implement it, instead he handed back a tax rebate and kept high income tax rates, only cutting them by (1/2)% when he has a surplus that could have been a game changer.

You would think Minnesotans learned their lesson about third party governors after electing Jesse Ventura.

I think that's true. He's kind of Minnesota's version of Patrick Kennedy and Jay Rockefeller.

I grew up in Pine City, where his ONLY in district contribution came from. Jane Robbins used to be the mayor. Maybe she owed him something.

Worse than that they gave us Al (the clown) Franken. My former county (Pine) is where they found the mysteriously missing votes that put him over.

I had the same question. While I go back a couple of times a year, I left MN many years ago. Thank you
