As I sat above the Hoover Dam under the broiling sun, I was getting jittery.
There was Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona, speaking at the dedication of a bridge linking Arizona and Nevada 890 feet above the Colorado River.
As the politicians droned on and my Irish skin turned toasty brown, I worried that Governor Brewer might make a citizens arrest and I would have to run for my life across the desert. She has, after all, declared open season on anyone with a suspicious skin tone in her state.
We are in the era of Republican Mean Girls, grown-up versions of those teenage tormentors who would steal your boyfriend, spray-paint your locker and, just for good measure, spread rumors that you were pregnant.
These women Jan, Meg, Carly, Sharron, Linda, Michele, Queen Bee Sarah and sweet wannabe Christine have co-opted and ratcheted up the disgust with the status quo that originally buoyed Barack Obama. Whether theyre mistreating the help or belittling the presidents manhood, making snide comments about a rivals hair or ripping an opponent for spending money on a mens fashion show, the Mean Girls have replaced Hope with Spite and Cool with Cold. They are the ideal nihilistic cheerleaders for an angry electorate.

That’s just how things work in their exposure. They can’t envision anything else. When you’re a leftist, everything looks like a rent-a-mob, unless it’s yours, then you just don’t admit it.
Clueless twit. Hopefully the November 2 tsunami will be the coup de grace to this nonsense.
Maureen Dowd, using projection again. By far, the most vile hateful things I have ever heard have come out of the mouths of famous Democrat women.
Especially Maureen Dowd.
Mo actually got near flyover country?
Hope she got airsick on the bridge.
I'd axe where the barf alert is, but seeing the author's name it is self implied. She and the rest of the so called journalists and the SRM is what buoyed zero, nothing else.
Do you ever notice how Washington media “elites” are always going on about college and high school? I’m thinking particularly of Chris Matthews and Howard Fineman who are always going on about SAT scores, etc. GET OVER IT, GUYS! High School and Harvard are OVER.
Another pet peeve: “water cooler” talk. No one talks at the water cooler anymore. If they talk at all they talk in the kitchen. Most businesses now have kitchens where you can microwave, refrigerate and eat your food. I’m sure MSNBC has several kitchens for their staff. But still we hear about the late, lamented “water cooler.”
Oh gimme a break. All my life we’ve been told women are to stand up for themselves, demand their rights and what not. Now we’ve got a crop of tough-minded female politicians who can more than stand up for themselves ....yet now because they’re Republican women ...they’re somehow “mean.”
Maureen Dowd, you can’t have it both ways.
