With Democrats currently holding a 21-14 lead over the GOP, here are our choices in five of the most contested races.

Even if the GOP falls short of picking up the four seats necessary to reverse the current 21-14 Democratic majority, gaining a seat or two would give Republicans a stronger voice in the statehouse, which could prove beneficial for bipartisan policy if a Democrat is again elected governor.
To help our readers make sense of some of the races, we're endorsing candidates in five key Senate districts across the state. These are the races both parties are eyeing for control of the Senate.
District 5 Covers 11 counties, including all of the San Luis Valley, and runs from Aspen to the New Mexico border.
This one was a toss-up for us. We do like incumbent Sen. Gail Schwartz. She's a hard worker and travels all over her huge district. However, we think there needs to be more balance in the state Senate, and Republican Bob Rankin is a thoughtful conservative.

“Bipartisanship” is just another way of saying bull****. The taxpayers are ALWAYS the losers when the clowns engage in “bipartisanship”.
Note to the DP: Bipartisanship is what got us into this mess. If the Pubbies get in control there they'd better not pull this crap. Hopefully, it will be our turn to say, "We won."
