BOSTON—President Barack Obama was trying to help Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick win re-election on Saturday, but more important to his own political future, maintain a Democratic Senate.

After a Patrick rally at the Hynes Convention Center, the president was traveling to West Newton for a fundraiser at the home of Caritas Cristi CEO Ralph de la Torre. The event was expected to raise $500,000 for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. It is charged with electing party members to the U.S. Senate.

Obama wants to maintain a Democratic Senate to pass the remainder of his first-term agenda. Both it and a Democratic House are in jeopardy in next month's midterm elections.

The speech is being held at the site of Comic Con. They speak to a woman who was in line since 8 am. I think she was there to see Batman (Adam West), but don't tell Obama.

Meanwhile, de la Torre has been counting on local Democrats from Attorney General Martha Coakley on down to back the $895 million proposed sale of six Caritas Catholic hospitals to Cerberus, a for-profit, private equity firm.

Hmmmmm! Looks like ObamaCare is devastating the Catholic Hospital networks. it surely points to a causal relationship to the sale of 3 Daughters of Mercy Catholic hospitals in the Scranton, PA area due, in part, to ObamaCare.
