Kirk Gibson’s WS HR.

If you've never listened to Bob Costas retell the story in Ken Burns' PBS documentary Baseball, you've missed, IMO, the greatest description of an at-bat in the world.

Even now, years after I last watched it, it sends shivers down my spine and almost brings me to tears.

Kurt was so hurt that he could barely walk, and he was still able to hit one out of the park. The image of watching him limp to first base is permanently etched in my mind.

Gibson had (or maybe still has) a landscaping company on Detroit's east side and a friend of mine used to work for him. Lets just say Gibson is not a very "fan friendly" guy..........which is common knowledge anyway.
