As someone who competed against GE @ the Eagle, I hope they lose (no I do not speak for P & W ) they play dirty and I hope they fail in their bid.
In b-school, I had a case study on a GE engine part manufacture - the thermosensor harness, iirc.
One of the guys in the class said he had worked at that particularly facility and said the Harvard Business School case writer blew through really didn’t take any time to get in to the details.
The bottom line is that it was a union shop, and the workers got paid more for “repairing” harnesses that didn’t pass inspection.
So, there was a constant “supply” of harnesses that needed to be reworked.
Obviously, the union was opposed to “fixing” the “problem” to get to zero defects the first time through the line.
