Todd Young is an education Socialist

A call to action for all taxed enough Patriots

At Wednesday night’s debate Todd Young vigorously asserted his support for the Federal Department of Education and has previously stated he supports increased funding. The debate on the Department of Education will be the starting point for the future debate on who is conservative and what the role of the Federal government is. As things begin to crystallize heading toward 2012, the battle within the GOP between the establishment moderates/liberals and the Conservative grassroots cannot be avoided. Quite simply everyone must pick a side and be sure where they stand on the role of government. Young’s views on Education and the impact of government show that he either is a compromising politician or he simply does not get it.

Conservative activist Karen Smith tried to seek explanation from the Young campaign via his face book page only to have her comments deleted multiple times. At one point Jackson county GOP chair Melissa Zabel Acton chimed in, “My take was that when we cease to be the best educated population, our national security is threatened.”

Melissa Zabel Acton is a very important piece to this story. Todd Young owes his entire nomination to Melissa Zabel Acton. Chair Acton worked her tail off in Jackson County for Todd Young which was a targeted county by Travis Hankins (who I campaigned for). Although Travis Hankins received more votes in Jackson County than the other candidates combined, Young’s over-performance in Jackson County (Particularly with Democrats crossing over) sealed the deal.

Young and Acton’s view on government does matter and increasing transparency and accountability is essential to restoring the Constitution and preserving Freedom.

In response to Acton’s comment Karen Smith responded, “That type of thinking is why the establishment should not be in charge of our party. The federal government has hurt our education system. Since their involvement and takeover we have gone from first in the world to mediocre all because of the federal government’s “role” that you and Mr. Young wish to preserve and advance. Since the Federal government’s takeover was cemented in ‘79 the special interests have advanced but our students have declined both in knowledge, preparation, and morality. The founders knew that this would happen if we added politics, liberals, and bureaucrats to education and that is why they OUTLAWED a Federal role.”

This brings me to the first reason why Young is wrong:

The Federal Government being involved hurts Education.

Conservatives believe that the government has lowered the quality of education in this county while the progressives, along with Young and Acton, believe we have not had enough government involvement. Their view is that more government will fix everything.

Clearly everyone can see that our education system is falling apart and the results speak for themselves: The more the Fed gets involved the worse off the students are and society as a whole. The decline in respect and morals can be directly linked to the progressive educators’ interests that have infiltrated and dominated our schools all thanks to the Federal DOE which Todd Young supports.

When it comes to the Education crisis, the Federal Government is not the solution to our problems, the government is the problem. That is the conservative position. Government-run education at the federal level never works.

It hurts national security.

“My take was that when we cease to be the best educated population, our national security is threatened.” -Melissa Acton

Take her position and totally reverse it and then you will have the truth. The Federal Government being involved in Education weakens national security. The founders limited the role of the Fed so that national security would be the main focus. The founders did not give the authority to the federal government to be “educators” because their role is to be “protectors.” An elected official in Washington is NOT to be distracted by spending his time with the special interests, seeking pork, or being an educator. An Elected official’s role is to keep us safe from foreign and domestic threats and to simply protect our rights.

In January 2001, President Bush began his term by pushing his expansive No Child Left Behind Act. He spent massive amounts of time talking NCLB with educators, lobbyists, and the American people. All the while Al-Qaeda was plotting their attack. The time he spent with his Education Secretary would have better served the people had he spent it with his Secretary of Defense and National Security team. If Bush’s top priority had been national security rather than Education then who knows what would have happened.

Our world is safer today than it will be tomorrow. As time and technology progresses, we will have more dangers and more threats than we do today. Let us stick with the founders’ vision of a Washington D.C. built strong to protect us and let the local school boards educate us. Remember there is someone out there right now plotting to do our nation harm and that is where the focus of our government should be.

It is illegal, anti-American and not conservative

Along the same lines is the fact that the Department of Education is counter to the American Revolution. The American people did not want a strong Federal government and the Articles of Confederation broke up over that…Jefferson and Madison went to great lengths to appease the people but the new Constitution nearly did not come to be without strong limits on Government followed by a Bill of Rights. The people demanded that the states have dominion over the federal government. After all, the States have a federal government, the federal government does not have states. The Constitution granted the Federal government limited, enumerated powers and left the rest to the states or the people.

If you believe in the American Revolution, if you believe in the Constitution and a LIMITED Federal government then you cannot support the Federal Department of Education.

Let’s get real. If the states and the people cannot educate itself without the ‘help” of the Feds, then what part of society is able to function without their “help”? If we need them in Education then we need them everywhere.

If you support a federal Role in Education then where don’t you support a government role???

Our Business, homes, cars, banks, insurance, healthcare, etc, etc? Where is a firm place that IS off-limits?

Once again, it is clear that if you are a conservative then you believe in limited government. And if you believe in limited government, then that line must begin at Education. If you believe in a Federal role in Education, then there is no place where you don’t believe the feds are needed or authorized to be involved.

There is not a more Anti-American group than the National Educators Association. The Anti-American fervor from the NEA makes Barack Obama seem like Ronald Reagan. The NEA gets its source of power from the DOE and their influence trickles down with their Anti-American agenda all across the nation.

We cannot afford it.

A 13.5 trillion dollar debt, a 4 trillion dollar budget, record deficits, a hundred trillion dollar obligation promise with no revenue to pay for it, a tax system that punishes everything productive that we do, a dollar near collapse, high unemployment. A department of Education who saw its budget doubled by Bush and then doubled again by Obama. With all this Todd Young still wants “to look for avenues’ to increase federal funding?

Todd Young based his entire campaign on being sympathetic to a balanced budget and being a “fiscal conservative,” yet he proposes increases in spending and only offers less than a tenth of even one percent in cuts in the entire budget? That is like a man who gains three hundred pounds and goes on a diet by eliminating one calorie a day.

How can we ever balance the budget if we don’t send Education back to the states where it belongs? We cannot, it is simply mathematically impossible. How can we keep our promises to seniors while funding the National Education Association’s radical agenda? We can’t do it.

If we do not send the responsibility of education back to the states then our country will be bankrupt. It is that simple.

Even if you think the DOE has served its purpose than you cannot possibly think we can afford it. All serious people know we must cut spending and the DOE is the top thing to cut and was in the GOP platform every year until Bush in 2000.

The roughly $120 billion spent in Washington funding the DOE equals roughly 20% of the federal income tax each year. We all would be better off cutting the Federal income tax by 20% and allowing individuals to use their money to create wealth rather than sending that money to Washington to be wasted and doled out to the NEA. If we keep our money here it will create wealth and then the local governments can collect taxes for the schools only when needed. This would make it a lot harder for the special interests to get their hands on it and would help our students in many ways.

What we must do

“The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the party that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections.”-Lord Acton

Recently, when Todd Young sat down with the editorial board of the Courier Journal, they hammered him on whether he would support a specific tenant of FDR’s New Deal. At first Todd Young gave a firm no, saying he did not support that program. But as they badgered further, Young went from a firm no to an open minded neutral position in a matter of a couple minutes. Todd Young has said he is not a conservative idealist. He has said he is open minded towards everything. We should listen to what he really says. His lack of a firm conservative position on any issue during this campaign backs this up.

Let’s be clear. Todd Young is a puppet politician who is up for sale to any interest who can get him a seat in Congress. If he needs big AG then he will pander to big AG. If he needs the Educators’ establishment lobby then he will pander to them. Whether it is big insurance, big environment, big labor, or especially the trial lawyers, they all will try to influence Todd Young. And he will toe the line for whatever interests he believes he needs to stay in Congress. Many know the story of Young stumping for votes and whenever someone says they are a Democrat, Young responds by saying “I am just like Obama.”

Everyone knows that the special interests have bought and paid for members of Congress who will never oppose their agenda but rather advance it. Big sugar has theirs, so does the NEA, Planned Parenthood, etc…

Here is what I propose: Let us get together and make Todd Young a slave politician to the Constitution. Let Todd Young be bought and paid for by the Freedom lobby. From the start make it clear to him that he needs us to win and if he opposes us on anything then he is going home. Let us bring him to the dance and not let him dance with anyone else. If he arrives at his Congressional offices we must make sure that every second of his day is filled advancing our agenda, which is his oath to begin with. Congress is full of sell outs and we should make Todd Young sell out his beliefs to the Constitution. One district at a time we must co-opt members of Congress and put them firmly in the back pocket of the Constitution.

Todd Young has been very negative on Hill’s “you’re not going to tell me how to run my Congressional office.” Well let us make it clear to Todd Young from the start that he has no discretion whatsoever on how he runs his office. Let him know that “we the people” run his office with total domination. We must make it clear that we have hired the Constitution as our Chief lobbyist and protector.

In 435 Congressional Districts in America, the Constitution lobby is the dominant political force in exactly zero districts. It is time for a change. Let us make the Constitution the dominant political force in Indiana’s ninth district.

Todd Young will sell out. Why not to us?

Sadly, the T.E.A party has lost support in the last year because real everyday conservatives fear that the TEA party leadership is in fact in the back pocket of the GOP and they are more interested in rallies than principles and that they prefer election victories over real change in Washington. Most conservatives and patriots hate politics and they will not be involved in a “political” movement. It must be real and transcend party politics for them to get involved and stay involved.

We must prove them wrong by co-opting Todd Young now and holding him accountable. If the T.EA. Party, both nationwide and in Southern Indiana, turns a blind eye to the lack of conservative principles in “Conservative” candidates then they will fail their purpose and will continue to lose credibility.

Some of you believe that we should wait until after the election and that is exactly the worst position we could have. The conservative movement will never have more sway over Todd young than we do right now. If we wait until November third then it is too late.

The first step is to seek out Todd Young and lobby him on abolishing the Department of Education. Young should not only reverse his position, but provide relentless leadership to advance our agenda.

Then the conservatives, which include the T.E.A party, must get together and define what conservatism is and what principles must not be compromised.

The Republican Party will not reform if we do not force them to. Like I said we all need to pick a side.

In full disclosure it should be noted that I plagiarized very liberally the themes of Ronald Reagan, Travis Hankins, Walter Williams, F.A. Hayek, Michael Barone, Glenn Beck, Chris Denney, and Karen Smith. Nearly none of this is an original thought of my own.

Todd Young is a very conservative candidate and it's preposterous that these anklebiters are trying to drag him down.

You're always going to disagree with a politician on an issue or two. It doesn't justify this kind of sore loser attack.

The author, the candidate the author supports, and Gipper08, appear to all be part of a little clique promoting Mike Pence for president and tearing down their political opponents.

Ironically, Travis Hankins, the candidate the blog author supported, claims to have been a socialist himself until recently. Sounds like a total fraud.

This from a former George Allen hack running around saying Allen was some conservative statesman.

I will say that Allen is way more conservative than Todd Young. If Todd Young is a “very conservative politician” then you can easily name a position of his that is “really conservative” right? Can you name one position of his that is to the right of the GOP talking points position? The author is not suggesting we abandon the GOP but merely holding it accountable.

You all do realize that this is the GOP’s last chance right? If they mess up in 2010 and 2012 then they are gone forever.

I supported Mike Pence in 2008 and he would be my top choice in 2012 but I am not sure and I am certainly not overly promoting him.

Living in the ninth I am quite concerned about sending a typical Republican to Washington to represent me and I believe the author (who is a friend) prescribes and easy way to reform the GOP and save this country.

Obviously GOP hacks would not be overly cooperative.

Go back to licking Travis Hankins' boots -- and tell him to get a job for the first time in his life while he's at it. No one's interested in your back-stabbing attacks on one of the best Tea Party cnadidates running in America.

You and your little groups of frauds and hypocrites make me sick - trying to tear down a great conservative candidate to get your buddy into office.

By the way - who did your hero Mike Pence endorse for Senate? Dan Coats, that's who, over multiple conservative candidates. Todd Young is way to the right of the Pence-Coats team.

This from a man who has been in politics “earning” money that way. I know exactly who you are...anyway thanks for answering my challenge about Young...oh wait you didn’t...

Name ONE position of Todd Young’s that is to the right of the party establishment’s talking points!

BTW...Pence endorsing Coats is one example of why I have not committed to him in 12...I support principles not men ...If Pence continues down the establishment party I will shake him altogether.

If Hankins starts to compromise then I will stop supporting him as well.
Rule of law not MEN.

You're licking the boots of some phony kid who has never held a job in his life --

And you think you have standing to tear down a US Marine and prosecutor?!!

You are a disgrace.

http://www.toddyoungforcongress.com/about/

Your main attack on Young seems to be that he's a down-the-line conservative, a pro-life veteran who supports free markets.

That's why I think he's one of the best conservative candidates in the country.

Young is not pro-Life. he takes the mcCain-Steele view. he believes it is state issue(and he is super squishy even on that)...One of the very few roles of the federal government is to ensure that the states are not denying any citizen their God-given rights.

You hacks never now when to stop. the only reason you people get away with your stuff is because true conservative don't bother...kmjeep making us mad and you will be in the real world (a place without a political class)

Todd Young is a conservative US Marine and you are a worm. He has served our country and protected his community and all you can think of his spitting on him and sliming him.

You want to talk "squish"? Maybe you should think about who squishes whom next time you go on a jihad against a Marine.

Young is not pro-Life.

You are lying, socialist-supporting scum.

http://www.toddyoungforcongress.com/issues/

“Todd has served on our board for almost 3 years and is strong supporter of Pro-Life principles. His leadership qualities and integrity will be a welcome change in Washington. Voters can be confident Todd will be a voice for the unborn and a Representative we can be proud of.” – Jeff Barnhill, Board President, Crisis Pregnancy Center of Bloomington

"I am pro-life and pro-adoption – and I try to back up my talk with action. I serve on the Board of Directors of a pro-life ministry. My wife Jenny and I also promote adoption by performing free legal work so that caring adults can become loving parents."
