Freshman Rep. Scott Murphy, locked in a tight re-election contest in upstate New York, released a political advertisement Wednesday that may be the election seasons most aggressive embrace of the health care law passed by Congress this year.
The advertisement doesnt so much extol the health care laws virtues as it attacks his opponent, Chris Gibson, for wanting its repeal.
Chris Gibson would let insurance companies go back to denying coverage for pre-existing conditions; he would let them restore lifetime limits on coverage. Chris Gibson would eliminate mandatory coverage for preventive care like mammograms and colon screenings, and seniors would pay more for prescription drugs. Chris Gibson: he is for the insurance industry, not you, the ad darkly intones.
Gibson said in a statement this evening that Murphy could have pushed for a scaled down, bipartisan consensus measure, which included items like ensuring those with pre-existing conditions get coverage, but instead he chose to participate in forcing through a behemoth government takeover of healthcare. He called the bill an enormous, irresponsible government expansion bill that is dragging down our economy...

Chris Gibson is the real deal - a former combat vet and fiscal conservative. Great guy. If anyone can help get Colonel Chris elected it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Murphy knows he’s in for a beating so he’s just going back to his liberal demagoguing roots.
I sure hope Chris Gibson is running his own ads smashing back at these bogus claims. the left could be using this as a test market.
Not necessarily. The Sept 18 Siena poll has Murphy way ahead. Gibson’s internal polling put him “within striking distance” of Murphy. WSJ considers this a close race.
I believe this is the most recent Gibson reponse ad.
Gibson is a good candidate, but he needs money.
Murphy is a slimeball. He was actually running ads on the radio claiming to have written legislation to stop the 1099 demands that were in the health care bill AFTER HE VOTED FOR IT!
Murphy is a terrible match to the district and should be fairly easily beaten. It’s a good thing he’s helping us out by running ads about his opponent repealing health care. That’s like Murphy running an ad telling people to vote for Gibson.
