The two major candidates for California governor head into their final televised showdown tonight with a "woman" problem dogging their campaigns - Republican Meg Whitman for her treatment of her undocumented maid, and Democrat Jerry Brown for a staffer's use of a sexist slur in referring to his opponent.
Tonight's debate at Dominican University in San Rafael will be moderated by veteran television journalist and former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw.

I lasted until Brokjaw mentioned J. Kennedy and I switched to the cartoon channel for some reality...
Calcowgirl, you're on your own tonight. ;-)
I have this fantasy that Meg will walk over to Brown’s lecturn and suddenly slap Brown in the face....for the ‘whore’ remark.
I’m glad it was useful.
It is for things like this that I wish there was a California ping list, LOL.
Meg is great tonight!
Thank you!
Brokaw asked about the whore remark - he said many women think it’s equivalent to the “n” word.
I don’t know where he got that — among everyone I know “Whore” is a gender-neutral term applicable to most politicians.
Wow! Was that what she said? :-D
Nah... Brokaw compared it to the “n” word
Meg showed indignation and talked about how offensive it is.
Brown shot back asking whether she chastised Pete Wilson for calling some group a bunch of whores — she responded with something like “that’s different”... at which point the audience went into low toned “oooooooh”s
It has long been in the repetoire, LOL.
I don’t know of a better term for many politicians.
And of course, “attention whore” or “media whore” fits the Meghan McCain and Gloria Allreds of the world.
It’s over....
I think Meg’s best segment was on Prop 8 — and the audience was dead silent.
It really surprised me.
Before that, it sounded like they had an even number of supporters in the audience.

Candidate or not, stature is enhancedFebruary 3, 1995
(02-03) 04:00 PDT WASHINGTON, D.C.; CALIFORNIA -- SACRAMENTO - After five days in the nation's capital denying, sort of, that he is a candidate for president, Gov. Wilson returns to California a stronger and better-known contender than ever.
"When the surf's up, and the waves are swelling, you just ride," said buoyant Wilson spokesman Sean Walsh after the governor returned to Sacramento Thursday.
Wilson made national headlines after he angrily called the Congress "whores to public employees unions," aired his crusade against illegal immigration and costly federal mandates on a pair of nationally broadcast television programs, and met with the newly installed Republican leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Here are some short comments on each question that was asked.
It gives you a general feel for the content.
I call the debate a draw.
They both wore dull colors and there were no real zingers flying.
The headline writers that called for a "clash" must be disappointed.
Thanks for the info CCG.
