Thirty companies and organizations get waivers from the new health care overhaul because otherwise they'd have to raise rates or drop coverage. The president said neither would happen. Hey, where's our waiver? asks Investor's Business Daily (IBD).
After telling federal regulators that it would be "economically prohibitive" for its insurance carrier to continue to cover its 30,000 hourly workers unless it received a waiver for its mini-med plans, McDonald's now has waivers for 115,000 workers, not just 30,000.
Jack in the Box also has a waiver, as do 28 other companies and organizations. The largest waiver, for 351,000 people, is for, appropriately enough, a union -- specifically the United Federation of Teachers Welfare Fund. The United Agricultural Benefit Trust, a California-based cooperative that provides such low-cost minimal coverage to farmworkers, was allowed to exempt 17,347 workers. Even what has been dubbed RomneyCare gets a waiver, with Massachusetts' universal health coverage bureaucracy getting an exemption for about 5,000 people.

Seems demmies are dedicated to hamburger flipping jobs. It seems like just yesterday they claimed George Bush’s economy was only creating hamburger flipper jobs. My, how times change.
I’m looking forward to the lawsuits for denials of waivers. Fun!
I’m on board with that. The primary instinct of the political animal (career politician) is survival. Republicans ALWAYS want to compromise.
But you saw what the RATS did—they jumped off of the cliff for what they believed in: health care for all.
Do the Republicans have the courage to be as radical?
To repeal? To defund this monstrosity? To fight on through the next presidential campaign.
The RATS declared war. The Republicans better not be waving the white flag already.
“because otherwise they’d have to raise rates or drop coverage”

Obama: Premiums Will Decrease 3000% So You Should Get A Raise When Hcare Is Passed
Lets say an employer pays $4,000 in health care premiums for an employee.
If his premium goes down 100% he will save $4,000 dollars. If it goes down 3,000% that is a savings of $4,000 x 30 which = $120,000.
Which means that an employer will make a $120,000 profit on each employees healthcare insurance once Obama-care is passed.
You can buy a lot of unicorns with $120,000.
But we have a weapon we haven't had before and the Republican leadership knows it. We can oust them from their comfy seats in the primaries if they don't do the job, and we will.
We need to make sure that we remind them of that hard, cold fact every day. We're not going back, and they'd better not either.
I believe Rove did the night he got so mand about ODonnel. He mentioned that we needed a candidate in that state that would negotiate compromise in DC..several more times when Democrats accused Repubilcans of being the party of NO.
But, even if he did, he isn't an elected Republican, and therefore your statement has no factual basis.
I didn't think it did. Just wanted to make sure.
no but the house minority leader talks it all the time and yes he was talking healthcare.
Our insurance carrier let us know that the rates for our business are going up 25%. We cannot afford that, so our only choice will be to let our policies lapse.
Yes—the primaries are working very well. However, the ultimate goal has to be term limits. Incumbancy is THE source of corruption in the system.
From fat cat insurance companies to “economically prohibitive” for its insurance carrier.
The brotherhood of good old boy club still doing well in Washington.
Nonsense. What you get with term limits is a series of nameless agents of special interests, each with a promise to take care of them when their stint is done.
If term limits ensured accountable government, please explain the behavior of the California legislature.
I worked in government for 35 years. I saw first hand what happens to honorable, decent, moral, and ethical people when they get elected. After about five months or so, they discover what their prime directive is: get re-elected. It’s like a switch gets thrown in their brains and they adopt the phony, politician’s smile. True for RATS orPubbies.
I would rather take my chances with teachers, engineers, architects, automotive mechanics, or Walmart greeters than have Dodd, Reid, Frank, Grassley, Hatch, Dingle, Conyers, Boxer, Feinstein, Feingold, Graham,
I do like DeMint though—but one out of hundreds don’t improve the odds. Oh, and by the way, I do not speak nonsense you condescending twit.
I don't give a damn what your personal experience is; you have not answered my question. We have an experiment. It is California. We did term limits. It backfired. Things got worse. The legislature has become a revolving door for lobbyists, not everyday citizens.
I would rather take my chances with teachers, engineers, architects, automotive mechanics, or Walmart greeters
That's not what you get with term limits. They have to come up with the money to run in the first place from somewhere. That means sponsorship. What you get is an incompetent and crooked neophyte with unalterable and invisible loyalties.
If term limits ensured accountable government, please explain the behavior of the California legislature.
Cavuto now speaking to how Insurance companies are being demonized.
Funny how the Dems want to confiscate such a criminal enterprise and yet they cannot explain why Obamacare will cost even more when run by a caring, competent, honest Federal Agency.
Private and competitive Health Insurance companies remain the best solution to paying for the most advanced medical care in the world. They have enabled revolutionary screening, pharmaceutical and medical procedure(s) research & development for over a century.
The government is about to seek and destroy a great enterprise.
Is this an angle that could be taken up in court?
