People with short attention spans? Last year, I was in Boston. I heard two college kids talking. One looked at an ad that was placed on a moving trolley. She said “That sign has too many words in it, like, who's gonna read all that?” Her companion said “Words are so like yesterday.” I kid you not.

Other than marketing wonks, who gets wee-weed upped about logos? Executives. When they aren't eliminating jobs and screwing customers, it's all they have to do.

Other than marketing wonks, who gets wee-weed upped about logos? No kidding...I couldn't even begin to think what the Gap logo looks like in the first place much less being concerned enough to raise a stink about it.

Other than marketing wonks, who gets wee-weed upped about logos? You do. Logos are a very effective visual shorthand.
You probably just don't realize how much you rely on logos, until the product or business you look for by sight, suddenly ends up looking different and you either can't find it, or don't recognize it.
