Hurricane Paula has developed in the warm waters of the Western Caribbean Sea. Paula is the ninth storm to reach hurricane status in the 2010 Atlantic tropical storm season. Initial estimates are somewhat uncertain, with extreme southwest Florida and the Florida Keys in the initial five-day cone of uncertainty. There is considerable spread in the track model guidance with the GFDL accelerating Paula east-northeastward over the Atlantic in several days and the GFS and ECMWF guidance turning the cyclone southward or southwestward over the northwest Caribbean Sea.

Forecast shows it maybe reaching 100 MPH sustained by late Wed., then diminishing to 50 MPH by Saturday. But who knows, it could take another trip around its little circle!
Had my eye on this too. Been a busy season offshore- already at P.
I thought the projections this year were for one of the most active hurricane seasons ever.
Of course, it ain’t over yet. Still, it seems to have been rather sparse of terrifying hurricanes.
Lots of storms, virtually no US landfalls, except for south Texas. Good year.
230 miles SSE of Cozumel, moving NW at 10 mph.
Winds 75 mph, 992mb.
Hurricane Warning in effect for Cozumel
Tropical Storm Warning for Honduras
In my view.
With a cold front expected to sweep across the Eastern US in the next 72 hours, I see no way that storm makes it as far north as Florida. Maybe some ts force wind gusts and some rain showers in the Keys.
But this looks like a major wind, surge and flooding threat for Cuba
Cold front should keep Paula away from the FL peninsula. Loving this cooler weather! We’ve been busy planting the winter vegetable garden.
I can see Obama on the beach with a mike like the weather channel guys. I am here to help!
I’ll take an active hurricane system like this season every year, please.
Already on “Winter Watch” looking at the long range GFS..
It looks like nice cool weather in the Eastern US for the next two weeks. Light jacket weather at night.
but when we start to see -20s and -30s spilling into Northern Canada, those like me who love winter will soon be in business :)

The one bad thing is that anybody who has moved to Florida after 2005 won’t know what to do when a Major Hurricane does come. Of course there hasn’t been that big a population gain since 2005.
That will give us sweater weather in North Florida.
The latest on Jefferson Parish, where Aaron Broussard once held sway.

We need the temps to dip a bit more before planting broccoli, snapdragons, pansies and lobelia.
Florida in the winter would be depressing for me..
I am talking about real winter. like last winter we had 3 or 4 big snow events in February, one right after the other.
i love snow
Great news that Aaron “Cry Me a River” Broussard is finally out of the picture.
Same here! Broccoli, lettuce, spinach and I’m trying tomatos for the first time in the fall. Always have lots of herbs going too.
I want to see him behind bars.
