A Colorful, Costly Dogfight Takes Shape in House Race
By MICHAEL M. PHILLIPS
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.In 2003, Lt. Col. Allen West forced an Iraqi prisoner to the ground, counted down to zero and fired a pistol over his head to scare him into revealing planned attacks on U.S. troops. The Army relieved him of command.
In ordinary times, such an event might destroy a man's career in public service. But 2010 is no ordinary time, and Mr. West may soon be in command againthis time as a tea-party-backed, Republican congressman from South Florida.

“In ordinary times, such an event might destroy a man’s career in public service.”
In sane times, such an event would have gotten him a medal for saving US lives.
These aren’t sane times, though.
The reporter got this backwards. In ORDINARY times, the guy would be a hero. We don't live in ordinary times. We live in marxist, PC, cry baby times. Every once in a while someone gives us a glimpse into ordinary times.
is the Colonel doing well?...I hope so...
His primary opponent has endorsed Klein....I thought the tea party was supposed to be the whiney babies....but Castle,McCollum,Lisa M and now this....We are seeing who the real children are
I hope LCAW wins big
Last Ras poll I saw had him up by 6 points.
He looked great on Fox today(Cavuto?) He is sharp. He will be a standout in Congress. His demeanor is no nonsense.
“Mr. Klein portrays himself as the pragmatic moderate, willing to cross the aisleor even cross his own presidentfor his constituents.”
Pragmatic moderate. Ah-huh. Klein has a lifetime ACU rating of...wait for it...1.33. That’s four points lower than Robert Wexler or Alcee Hastings, and surpassed among Florida Democrats only by Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
I’m hoping that reporter gets demoted back to the file room.
Nate Silver has West winning 49.3 to 48.6 on November second....its a 53% chance of turn over for us......its tight so donate!!!!....Ive donated so much lately ill be living on soup and water for about two months but its worth it
Only half the story. The other half is that he immediately reported himself to his superiors. While his conduct was against military regulations he left with his integrity and honor. Both of these qualities are in short supply in Washington.
The rules need changing.
Mock executions are expressly forbidden. Those are the rules.
I agree.
Unless its my life he is trying to save, then he can do whatever it takes.
It would have been kept hush hush if possible, denied at all governmental levels if not possible.
Aren’t they the one that acknowledge that they only endorse the Dhims this cycle?
