But he threw his net a bit too wide, and was not sophisticated enough to charm the elites that be.

..... oh please, quit swallowing commie propoganda by the gallon. He never accused or netted anyone but commies, and was slammed by the leftist controlled press for not being a “we love Joe Stalin” go along. The “elites” were and even today many are Leftists, Commies, Fellow travellers, or Dupes and were never going to be “charmed” as they pulled out all stops to protect the cells they had in place. Chambers proved how deeply imbedded the Commies were all the way up to hte White House. So, how many rational citizens think the cells all just dried up and blew away in the early 50’s? Yeah , right...

Please let me explain something to you.

It is now known that some of the people McCarthy questioned were actually Soviet spies. Many more were not actually spies, but Communist sympathizers in positions that could do our country great harm.

But McCarthy threw his net too wide, as I said before. He also targeted leftists who were essentially harmless, Charlie Chaplin and Orsen Welles, for example.

So the public became distracted, and eventually turned against McCarthy.

That’s not commie propaganda, my friend. It’s a lesson that if you try for everything, you may end up with nothing.
