China mounts air exercise with Turkey, U.S. says

The air forces of China and Turkey have carried out a joint exercise, the U.S. Defense Department said on Friday, in what appeared to be the first such drill involving Beijing and a NATO member country.

Turkey assured the United States it would take the "utmost care" to protect sensitive U.S. and NATO technologies, said U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Tamara Parker, a department spokeswoman.

She described Turkey's government as committed to the NATO alliance and the continuation of strong ties to the United States.

"To the best of our knowledge, U.S.-made F-16s were not involved in the exercise," Parker said. She referred a caller to the Turkish government for details of the maneuvers.

The office of the Turkish defense attache in Washington did not respond to a request for comment.

Turkish press reports have said the exercises took place September 20 through October 4 at the Konya air base in Turkey's central Anatolia region.

This is what happens when this administration projects weakness: our “allies” start to cozy up to China and Iran.

The problem is that Incirlik Air Base in Turkey holds 100 B-61 atomic bombs each with 340 kilotons apiece.

The Islamics are taking over Turkey little by little and they will need new allies to stand against the west. Ta da, China.

The weapons are stored within a vault in Hardened Aircraft Shelters, using the USAF WS3 Weapon Storage and Security System.

Purely a training exercise... so the Chinese can learn the strengths and weaknesses of the F-16...

Redbob, you are 100% on target on that one. Training exercise? What a crock.

This “exercise” was Turkey giving the finger to the U.S The USAF should seriously consider moving those atomic bombs.

“So they are under USAF control?”

Another reason to be very, very nervous about this so called exercise.

These bombs are underground in a hardened aircraft shelter and the USAF only have the codes to release them.

Hindsight is always 20/20. As much as we needed Turkey in the Cold War, we don’t have them in the Global War against Islamofascism. Of course, that they are hooked up with Iran, China and Russia, (which we learned a month or 2 ago regarding import and deployment of advanced SAM missile batteries) comes as no surprise if one reads Ezekiel 38 & 39 and Revelation 16:12-17; 19:11-21...

Turkey is a lost cause, and we OUGHT to view them as an adversary at the very least — and a potential ENEMY should an open war between Israel and Iran break out — or even if we and Iran get into a conflict. It’s not difficult to figure out that Turkey would at least side surreptitiously with Iran and Syria in ANY conflict against Israel AND America.
