Do you want pro-aborts, gays and their sympathizers voting with you against Obama in 2012 or not? I realize many of them are part of the marxist faction of the democrat party that we will never get anyway, but many are independents who would otherwise vote republican. Maybe those votes won’t matter in 2012, but all the same, I’d rather have them voting with me.
We will see what happens with Paladino. I’ll be rooting hard for him to win, but this is going to hurt him more than help him, in my opinion. I’m not saying back down from your principles - I’m just saying you don’t need to present the media the opportunity to spin them and destroy you. I agree with him, but you need to maintain your positions publicly without using incendiary language like “dysfunctional” (even if it was crossed out - do you think the press really cares about that?)
Look at the democrats. Is there any discernible difference between them and self-described socialists? No, they call themselves democrats because they’d be unelectable with an S instead of a D next to their names, but that doesn’t deter them from advancing their socialist agenda. Word choice means a lot.
We need to elect R’s who will appoint justices who actually apply the law as it is written. This alone will prevent gay marriage and abortion by judicial fiat and leave it up to the citizens to fight those fights politically on a local level. Isn’t that what you want?
This is the point of view that got us decades of RINOs, which self-perpetuated this point of view.

The very reason we are in the handbasket heading south is not because of the leftist Democrats.
It is for this reason:
The Repbulican party which was supposed to be conservative, wasn’t. They compromised on taxes, gov function, AND SOCIAL ISSUES. They are the ones who should have been STANDING UP AGAINST the leftist crap, but instead became part of the enemy through weakness, greed, lack of strong conservative ideology, “go along to get along”, “reach across the aisle” crap.
The ONLY - I repeat - ONLY - way to win this war is for Republicans to be strong fiscal AND social conservatives and have courage to speak and act on their principles.
Compromise and social liberalism is the quickest way to go to hell in a handbasket.
