Carl Paladino says its not okay to be gay.
"There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual," the Republican gubernatorial candidate told a small Hasidic group at Khal Adas Kasho synagogue in Williamsburg today.
"That's not how god created us, and that's not the example that we should be showing our children."
Paladino, who has made his opposition to the gay marriage and "the homosexual agenda" clear, went much further yesterday, to say children "would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family" than being gay."
"And I don't want them to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option," he said. "It isn't."
The speech came just days after the suicide of a gay Rutgers student and an anti-gay gang attack in the Bronx.
His Democratic opponent, Andrew Cuomo, blasted the remarks as "stunning homophobia and a glaring disregard for basic equality."
A campaign spokesman said "These comments along with other views he has espoused make it clear that he is way out of the mainstream a

And I tell people because the owner wasn't kidding. I was told somebody got a zot earlier on another thread.
Thanks for the support. I’m getting slaughtered here. LOL.
I still hope Paladino wins, in fact that’s WHY I think his remark is so off-base—becasue it will only help Cuomo in the end.
Newsday.com reported that Mr. Paladinos prepared text also included a sentence saying: There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual. But Mr. Paladino omitted that statement when he gave the speech. So why lead the article with a statement he never said? Hit pieces
There’s a difference. Abortion is murder. I don’t give a rat’s ass what anyone is doing in their bedroom, as long as it’s legal. I know plenty of gay people, through my gay brother. They’re some of the nicest people I know. Some people make them sound like circus freaks. Very narrow-minded thinking.
I have been very near politics since I was in utero, and I know that separating politics from moral issues is the biggest mistake that a people can make.
Almost nothing would make me happier than a conservative winning the NY governorship. But I think it's a thin chance, despite the righteous anger and discontent boiling beneath the surface.
By your logic, it is the sole province of accountants and economists to comment on taxing and spending.
Public policy embraces everything.
Yep.
I won’t even discuss the issue of Gay (no I am not pro gay) life with her and her buddies.
They will come out in droves and accuse folks of being pro gay.
I mentioned awhile back that I know of gay people in town but not personally and I think a man/women whoring around is the same as same sex people whoring around.
I got called a liar, pro gay and threatened with getting banned.
It is her rant. I won’t play into posters who twist my posts and falsely accuse me of whatever.
Except that he never said it. The statement that you object to was not in his speech.
There's a link in 183 and 158. And there's also this:
but his campaign manager, Michael R. Caputo, denied that the candidate is antigay, and noted that he employs an openly gay man on his campaign staff.
Agree.
Here’s the reality:
Democrats, in order to win, have to pretend they are less liberal/lefist than they really are.
Republicans, in order to lose, choose moderate/socially liberal wishy-washy non-conservative candidates.
Regarding the nazi-like homosexual agenda being forced on everyone via Big Nanny State government, that horse got out of the barn years ago. Now the job is to catch it, hobble it, stuff it back into the barn and padlock the door.
I have a long ignore list.
Perhaps you should too.
That’s the thing that would get to me - that they could turn it off and on *snap* just like that.
I know. Imagine if people were as cruel as they are to kids born with a homosexual orientation to kids born with Down syndrome. Sarah Palin would take her moose rifle to them. Well, what if one of Palin’s kids was born gay? What if one of YOURS was? (to any FReeper) BEATING it out of them will not work. You’d have to kill them. Just like beating Down Syndrome out of your child will not work. Nor beating autism out of your child.
If you feel that ACTING on homosexuality is a sin, then help gays to avoid the act. And if you don’t, forgive them for it, because you probably gossiped today, and that is also a sin. Remember that BEING homosexual (having the orientation, and possibly being a feminine male or a masculine female) is NOT A SIN.
But for G-d’s sake, and I mean it literally, respect kids born with differences. It’s not their fault. And you are NOT being a good person if you are crude and rude about other people.
We disagree on one issue. So? Do you believe that there is no ground for agreement on others? No one gets along with everyone. However conservatives do share some very general values.
Years ago, my Mom had a cute TV repairman. I saw him in a “gay” bar. He asked me not to tell any of the women because he got a lot of work because of his looks. He was a HUGE “swish” in the bar. But not outside. It was weird.
Well, you’d vote for him, so there’s hope for you. :-)
Paladino is not irrational. A reporter and photographer went after his 10 year old daughter twice. They actually put the camera lens to the window and scared her. The whole thing was a dirty set up job to make Paladino look bad. Of course the MSM is carrying on with it.
OK, if we must descend to name calling then Cuomo is a NAMBLA enabler
Dang you make too much sense.
Remember the Dad on the bus who told off the kids who were harrassing his Cerebral Palsy daughter?
Bieng a Mom of a quad CP (31yrs advocating/careproviding) I did not EVEN want to get started on that thread.
Quite a few posts were very to the heart of a Mom/Dad.
Lord knows the battles we face in living in society freely I am sure not going to allow an internet thread tick me off and go ranting to those who do not have first hand exp. with our lifestyle.
And he/KV is the political expert of the household I hang out here because of him and my need to stay updated.
For many years homosexuality was considered a “mental disorder” until it was removed from diagnostic manuals for only political reasons.
The DSM or Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for mental disorders is the go to book for mental health. I use it often when in my studies involving criminal justice.
In 1973 it was removed as a mental disorder and listed as something minor involving sexual identity. In the 80s it was removed altogether.
