Carl Paladino says its not okay to be gay.
"There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual," the Republican gubernatorial candidate told a small Hasidic group at Khal Adas Kasho synagogue in Williamsburg today.
"That's not how god created us, and that's not the example that we should be showing our children."
Paladino, who has made his opposition to the gay marriage and "the homosexual agenda" clear, went much further yesterday, to say children "would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family" than being gay."
"And I don't want them to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option," he said. "It isn't."
The speech came just days after the suicide of a gay Rutgers student and an anti-gay gang attack in the Bronx.
His Democratic opponent, Andrew Cuomo, blasted the remarks as "stunning homophobia and a glaring disregard for basic equality."
A campaign spokesman said "These comments along with other views he has espoused make it clear that he is way out of the mainstream a

>>(And by the way: what would Paladino do as governor to end the gay dysfunction? Barbed wire? And what if he decides something you do is dysfunctional? He has this claim on an expertise in what is dysfunctional because he__________??)
Oh puh-leeze. That’s quite a straw man you’ve constructed there. No one is suggesting that.
How about just ending all the “homosexuality is just a lifestyle choice” type indoctrination in public schools?
What you do as governor to end the gay "dysfunction" is prevent in whatever way possible the establishment of laws that are "good for" only a portion of society. That's the standard operating procedure these days and its enabler is political correctness. Making the statement is all he really needed to do. He stood up to PC. Now we will see if it knocks him down and out.
You criticized Mr. Paladino for making this statement and then you when informed that it was said in a particular context to a certain group, you criticize that. He wasn't saying "what they wanted to hear". Apparently he was simply telling them where he agrees with them. I imagine he was establishing a rapport with and a sort of comfort level for them. I guess he hasn't received an invitation to speak from any gay and lesbian groups so it can't be determined if he would say otherwise to them.
I get the impression from your posts on this thread that you are feeling some anguish beyond the political. I have a niece, a nephew and three cousins who are gay or lesbian. (we have a big family) I love them but still realize that their "lifestyle", whether or not it is innate, is dysfunctional.
Well, it looks like you’re a libertarian, and that you didn’t read the article.
There must be some active Ayn Rand threads going on that you can run off to. ;-D
So who crowned you Queen of the universe?
Conservatives who know and love a person in their family who is homosexual know for a fact that homosexuality is a mental illness (unless people are lying to themselves or remaining purposely ignorant).
Loving someone who is homosexual (”gay” means happy and carefree, not homosexual, it’s a propaganda term) means being willing to tell them the truth - that no one is born “gay” and they can change.
Sorry toots but homosexuality is unnatural and they aren’t born they are recruited.
Toots, you seem to know quite a bit about it. Care to share?
Sheesh, so how did they know it was even in the prepared speech?
And what about the fantasyland of polls that are wrong? As in Mr.K’s comment I just posted, doing it again for posterity:
Dont even THINK he may not win...DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIBERAL MEDIA AND THE POLLS!!!!
You are not seeing what I am seeing. there are Paladino signs EVERYWHERE (and I drive across the state every week)
I have only seen 2 cuomo signs- one posted in someones derelict business and another on a slum house.
Remember THE POLLS had Paladino tied with Lazio in the primaries- (48-47)
then he beat him by 25% (62-37)

God is in New York. It will work in New York.
Our country is being flushed down the immoral toilet, and you’re not helping any.
Just keep in mind that the owner of FR bans people that push the homosexual agenda.
I agree with your post.
Paladino is a loose cannon...his anger is dysfunctional..that telling the reporter “I can take you out.”...
I just don’t respect his thugishness..You can be tough, principled and assertive without acting like a teenager.
and yes, why go there when the issues that could get him elected are the economy and Obamacare...
I’m scared!

Good reply, FreedomPoster. See also: My post at 142.
And you should know that the statement in the headline was not in the speech. I thought Freepers knew better than to believe the MSM.
Can’t you make your point without all the 12 yr old crude talk?
Uh, guess not.
According to the original article of this thread, the statement that was ommitted was related to the Ground Zero Mosque.
Do you have a link to the Newsday article?
Sounds more like young and foolish.
Do you want links to scientific studies or anecdotal stories?
Give me all ya got, toots. Anecdotes first.
>>Good reply, FreedomPoster.
PaleoBob’s “argument” is very similar to the sort of thing I see Lefties putting forth regularly on a variety of subjects in neutral forums.
It doesn’t wash in those places, it doesn’t wash here.
