That said, there’s a difference between keeping the history alive and honoring the brave men that fought for both sides and being and internet insurrectionist. I hope you can see the difference.

I absolutely support keeping history alive. That is why I post on these threads. I have access to many old newspapers, and I've cited many forgotten news items from them.

Insurrectionist? No more than you're a statist. I post from a Southern perspective. Was the South all good, and the North all bad, or vice versa? No. Both sides had warts. Well after the war, the former Union general and later president Rutherford B. Hayes said:

"The truth is, the men of the South believed in their theory of the Constitution. There was plausibility, perhaps more than plausibility, in the States' rights doctrine under the terms and in the history of the Constitution."

I believe that Hayes was right. Too often the Southern side of history does not get fair and balanced treatment.

I certainly honor brave folks who fought on both sides of past wars and recent and current wars. Thank you for your service. Seriously.

I do not honor the Union soldiers who burned and pillaged and worse their way through the South or the Southern soldiers who might have done the same to Union supporters. Nor would you, I like to think.

Well said, rustbucket.

I too have been busy of late. This one Boone and Crockett buck is going to be the death of me. We spotted him late last deer season and it has become personal. Life is good :)

Thank God, I'm A Country Boy!
