Lincoln may support extending tax cuts for the wealthy in light of 'circumstances'

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) Friday signaled she is open to extending Bush administration tax cuts beyond the middle-class incentives President Obama and congressional Democratic leaders are seeking.
Lincoln – one of the most endangered Democratic incumbents in the Nov. 2 midterm election – said she may support extending tax cuts set to expire at the end of the year for those making as much as $1 million annually.
"I don't think we should have to say that we're either going to extend the Bush tax cuts or we're going to take on the Obama tax cuts," Lincoln told the Associated Press and other reporters. "I think, as a Congress, it's our responsibility to look at the economic circumstances that exist and what the opportunities are to make sure it fits the needs of what we have today."
Obama and Democratic leaders have said that after the November elections they want to extend tax cuts for individuals making less than $200,000 and married couples making less than $250,000.
During a speech Friday to the Pulaski County Bar Association, Lincoln said it was reasonable to extend the tax cuts to those making between $250,000 and $1 million and that any tax cuts beyond that would have to be paid for in the budget, according to AP.

This woman is toast. Polls show Boozman up in double-digits. This is an easy GOP pickup.
Well, finally figured out the cowards reasoning for deserting Washington instead of voting.
If you vote Democrat we will continue the tax cut. If you don’t, too bad.
I have liven in AR for 66 years, except for 4 in the military. I have never seen one of those belts. Do they use them where you live?

Republican challenger John Boozman continues to lead incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln by nearly 20 points in Arkansas’ U.S. Senate race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arkansas shows Boozman earning 55% support, while Lincoln, arguably the nation’s most endangered Democratic senator, picks up 37% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

I don’t think so - I think Pelosi et al. realized that if they allowed a vote, ALL of the Bush tax cuts would be extended, and Obama would veto it - ensuring a massacre of the Dem party.
So they refused to allow a vote.
The Survival instinct is strong. I only hope that it can be used like a HAMMER against the Rats who are up for reelection in 2012. We just might see a number of them coming around to our way of thinking during the next legislative session if only for long enough to undo some of the damage that’s been done.
