How many of you have seen ‘Boardwalk Empire’ directed by Martin Scorsese (Goodfellows) and written by Terence Winter (The Sopranos).?
‘Boardwalk Empire’ is a period piece set in Atlantic City at the start of prohibition.
It focuses on Enoch ‘Lucky’ Thomson, played by Steve Buscemi, just as prohibition kicks in, and the start of bootlegging.
“It’s not TV. It’s HBO” has felt like an empty boast since it ended ‘The Sopranos’, ‘Rome’, ‘Deadwood’ and ‘The Wire’. Well, the wait is over. HBO comes roaring back with ‘Boardwalk Empire’, staring Steve
Busemi (The Sopranos) and an awesome cast of characters, including some from ‘The Sopranos.
HBO reportedly spent as much as $20 million on the 70-minute premiere, and it shows: “Boardwalk’s” re-creation of 1920s Atlantic City is spectacular.
Not since “Mad Men” has a slice of history been so meticulously re-created for television, from its elaborate sets to its amazing costume reproductions.
I can hardly wait until Sunday!
