I read the opposite. I read the parents of Clementi had NO IDEA that their child was “gay”.

He wasn’t murdered.

It has been determined that it was a suicide.

They determined he had "drowned" and that this occurred presumably as part of a "suicide" attempt.

You have to be very careful with what the coronors say.

Murder cannot be ruled out of this case yet.

Now, regarding the story about his folks not knowing he was into homosexuality, those were "early" reports ~ later reports are that they knew.

You can probably find reports on the net that he had already had sex with various celebrities too.
