Prominent American Jewish leaders cast doubt on President Obama's policy in the Middle East in a long article posted today on Huffington Post by the writer Ed Klein.
The most striking material is from the Anti-Defamation League's Abe Foxman:
[A] clue to the president's true intentions came in March 2009, when Abe Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, met with the president's then chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel.
"This is Israel's moment of truth," Emanuel told Foxman. "This president is determined to make peace between Israel and the Arabs."
Foxman spoke to Klein, a former New York Times Magazine editor and author of gossipy books about the Kennedys and Hillary Clinton, about a meeting that July between Jewish leaders and Obama:
"I came away from the meeting convinced that Obama has introduced a new and dangerous strategy and that it's revealing itself in steps," Foxman told me. "Unlike other administrations, this one is applying linkage in the Middle East. It's saying that if you resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the messiah will come and the lions will lie down with the lambs."
The piece is sharply negative, but the a Vanity Fair spokeswoman, Beth Kseniak, said it was killed for reasons of space, not content; Klein said he'd been told the same, and had no reason to doubt it.
Vanity Fair may not be fair, but it sure is vain!
Barry’s immanentizing his eschatons? He doesn’t seem the type.
He got it wrong. The administration actually believed that the messiah had come in November 2008, hence the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be resolved.
This president is lacking in essential marbles ...
Zero knows he can ignore Foxman and his ilk, as long as he’s pro-abortion. They care more about killing babies than they do about Israel.
Why can’t we just stay out of the Israel-Palestine dispute?
It might help if we just quit funding both sides and let them figure out what they need to do on their own. Maybe they want to blow themselves into another world, but I doubt it. It’s obvious that we haven’t been much help.
Too bad!
The Jews funded and placed the guy.
May the children of Israel suffer for generations to come.
I’m a very,very rare conservative US Jew.
He can be both!
Maybe so, but you still sound like a bigot/idiot. In fact, it was mostly George Soros who "placed" Obambi, and other than having Jewish parents, theres nothing much "Jewish" about the guy, or any of the JINOs who follow him around.
Uh, huh.
They will still vote Democrat. They can't help it. Somehow, they will persuade themselves that the next Democrat candidate (Hillary?) will be more pro-Israel. They don't get it: all of the prominent Democrats are anti-Israel.
It’s not so simple when you have leaders in a country like Iran, stating that they want to ‘wipe Israel off the face of the Earth”, while actively seeking nuclear weapons. For the US to cut and run would send a signal for Iran and other countries to pile on. One way or another, they would get their nukes...
'...and at the town there is a fair kept, called Vanity Fair. It is kept all the year long. It beareth the name of Vanity Fair, because the town where it is kept is lighter than vanity, Psa. 62:9; and also because all that is there sold, or that cometh thither, is vanity; as is the saying of the wise, All that cometh is vanity. Eccl. 11:8; see also 1:2-14; 2:11-17; Isa. 40:17'.
It wasn't a good place then, and it isn't a good place now...
“The Jews funded and placed the guy.
May the children of Israel suffer for generations to come.”
???
Why should the Israelis have to suffer because of the acts of certain leftist Americans?
“The president is either a Muzzie sympathizer or a complete fool. “
I don’t see these as mutually exclusive option, and in fact truly believe both are applicable and operative!
“Uh, huh”
Journalista Ben Smith taken in. :-)
Why can't we let somebody try to solve some of the world's problems? Why can't we appoint say, Canada and Japan, and tell them that they can handle the continuing drama of Israel and Palestine? We can send them a note reminding them of Iran's bellicose baloney.
“Why can’t we appoint say, Canada and Japan, and tell them that they can handle the continuing drama of Israel and Palestine?”
They would never do it. What interest would Japan have in the matter?
