A woman using a crowbar entered a Colorado art museum Wednesday and destroyed a controversial exhibit by a Stanford University art professor that some say shows Jesus Christ engaged in a sex act.
The exhibit -- called "The Misadventures of Romantic Cannibals" by Stanford's Enrique Chagoya -- has been the subject of a week's worth of protests by those who claim it is blasphemy.
The suspect was identified by police as 56-year-old Kathleen Folden of Kalispell, Mont. She is currently in custody on a charge of criminal mischief.
Police said that around 4 p.m. the woman entered the Loveland Museum/Gallery in Loveland, about 50 miles north of Denver, and stood in front of the exhibit. Using a crowbar or similar tool, she then broke the Plexiglass protecting the image and tore up the artwork. She also cut herself in the process.
Police said there were reports of gunfire at the museum, but it appears the noise was due to the banging of the crowbar against the glass.
Art dealer Mark Michaels told Denver's 9News that he saw the woman break the glass. She grabbed the artwork, but he says he stopped her.
"We were just coming in and were standing at the door and I heard a large -- like a thump -- and somebody yelled 'Oh, no!' And I looked up and I saw a nail-puller-type crowbar slamming the Plexiglass case several times until she broke it," Michaels told the TV station.

Now that is performance art of the finest order!
Oh what a tragedy actually it probablly look better after she smashed it up. She will most likely be thrown on death row and executed for destroying the masterpeice
Good for her. Chagoya should be deported.
Hey wait! Don’t you believe in free speech?
I think SHE can sue the Museum for “prior restraint”, as it appears that they restrained her before she could complete her performance.
Legally wrong and morally right.
I bet Gloria Allred will be available soon-do you know if the woman is here legally?
I’d bet anything that this was NOT an antiquity as claimed.
It’s not legally wrong — it’s art! If the leftists can get away with pornography then she can get away with this. Art, as you know, is about pushing the boundaries. Nothing is held accountable with if you invoke the word “art.”
Good for her!
Just putting the finishing touch to a “work of art”.
“Now that is performance art of the finest order!”
Exactly! And good for her - she was performing her art, just as the thug was his.
Firstly, she could declare that she was doing performance art on the piece and they would be violating her right to free speech if they prosecute
Second option, and the one most likely to not only get her off the hook, but to win her awards is...she can claim that the man performing oral sex on "Jesus" is a depiction of muhammad, and as a muslim she has every right to destroy a blaspheme of muhammad.
There seems to have been a serious spike of leftist artists using visualization of Cannibalism in their art. I am kinda thinking it might be a good idea to keep an eye on those guys.
Because if they’re eating long pork on the side, whether to gain some kind of esoteric knowledge or as misguided belief in Darwinism..........they need to be wiped the hell out.
As for what that woman did,I say if the President has to write to someone for threatening to burn the Koran down. Can’t he write with to the professor, the one with the taste for long pork, and tell him to cease and desist.
And go back to gnawing the stuff in the dumpster out by the Abortion clinic.
It looks like a “Tijuana Bible”, and yeah, this is no more a true work of museum art than a Bazooka Joe comic.
She should just claim that she was a performance artist, and they were disrupting her performance.
It takes a museum to buy something like this. No self respecting porn magazine would want it.
She didn’t destroy the exhibit. She deconstructed it.
Please let me know where I can donate to her legal defense fund.
