VERY high taxes on gasoline, plus sales tax on top of that.Each city and county has a certain amount of taxes they can add over and above what the State and Feds add on, plus they can add a certain amount to the statewide sales tax.. Given that the sales tax is levied on the entire price of the fuel, you have double taxation, which really puts it to the consumer. I just filled my car up here in Fresno at 2.79 a gal. The same station was up to 2.83 today.
