South Dakota House: Noem (R) Regains Small Lead Over Herseth-Sandlin (D)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 10/7/10

Republican Kristi Noem has edged back into the lead over incumbent Democrat Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin in South Dakota’s U.S. House race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in South Dakota finds Noem with 47% support, while Herseth-Sandlin earns 44% of the vote. Six percent (6%) like another candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

It remains a very close race. Noem fell slightly behind Herseth-Sandlin last month 47% to 45% for the first time since winning the Republican Primary in early June.

Noem, it appears, is beginning to overcome the impact of news reports about her questionable driving record. Herseth-Sandlin was elected to Congress in 2004 following the resignation of GOP Congressman Bill Janklow who was convicted of manslaughter after he killed a motorcyclist while running a stop sign at high speed.

Despite being one of the few Democrats in Congress to vote against the national health care bill, Herseth-Sandlin is contending with an electorate that’s very unhappy with President Obama and his policies.

This statewide telephone survey of 500 Likely Voters in South Dakota was conducted on October 4, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/-4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence

Is her last name really worth that much in South Dakota? Is she like a Bush or Kennedy or Murkowski there?

Six percent (6%) like another candidate in the race . . .

Is there a Losertarian in the race trying to keep the fake Blue Dog in office? Herseth-Sandlin voted for ObamaCare. She shouldn't be north of even 40%!

Noem is getting $50 of my hard-earned money-Just like John Thune in 2004. Both these lookers will be the leading candidate to succeed Tim Johnson when he is up for reelection in 2014. He had health issues. Hopefully both these contributions will bear fruit.

Guess she thinks it is since she felt the need to hyphenate it instead of just taking her husbands name. I’ve never been one for hyphenated names, anyway...just pick one or the other, sheesh. But that’s neither here nor there I suppose.

No she didn't.

A hyphenated last name is an indicator of enlightened status...the woman wants you to know that she isn’t part of the ‘unwashed masses’; and therefore, is entitled to your vote.

Well played, sir...

So what's Mike Rounds doing these days? Any word on his future plans?

Brock Lesnar for President. Saw the farm boy from South Dakota on a UFC special last night. All I heard out of him was hard work and rough justice.

Plus, he would whip Putin a$$ despite Putin's black belt in Judo.

Questions for the group:

1. Is Thune campaigning for/with Noem? Helping her with $$$

2. What's the status of SD's other senator? Healthwise..will he run again..

In Stephanie's case, a hyphenated name is mainly and indicator that she is the descendant of a very popular former governor. Like Murkowski and Callahan, she is political royalty...none of them would have been elected if their name had been Smith.

Money goes a long way in South Dakota's small markets. If you have an extra $10, consider giving it to Noem.

Some of Stephanie's commercials are clips from 6 years ago before some aging took it's toll. On the other hand, if you haven't seen Kristi...

I am lucky enough to get to vote for her in 3 weeks or so.

Yep, her father was a longstanding South Dakota politician and I’m sure she sees political positions as her hereditary right.

Sorry. I was confusing her with the doofus representing the Other Dakota.

But she still deserves a pink slip.

Yes, she should be booted just for voting for Dingy Harry. And if SD can get rid of her, most Dems in Republican districts should get the boot (fingers crossed)
