I would think if the meat were properly processed and cooked, worms and infections wouldn’t be an issue.
On many occasions, I have had meals of wild hogs from California...actually quite good.

Dude, we DO cook them. I wear rubber boots, apron, and gloves while skinning/cleaning/butchering them.
