Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, a centrist Democrat from Arizona who is trying to defend her seat after voting for three main items on President Barack Obama’s agenda — the health care overhaul, the stimulus bill and cap-and-trade – announced today that she had won endorsements from a number of local Arizona Republicans.
At a press conference today, the first-term “Blue Dog” Democrat welcomed the backing of former Arizona state Reps. Jennifer Burns and Pete Hershberger, both Republicans, as well as Sahuarita Mayor Lynne Skelton and Sierra Vista Mayor Robert Strain.
