Joe Manchin (Dem. Gov.) Suddenly Decides to Sue the Obama Administration
NRO ^ | October 04, 2010 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 10/06/2010 3:30:58 AM PDT by RobinMasters

Wow. How much does West Virginia Senate candidate Joe Manchin have to distance himself from the Obama administration? This much:

Gov. Joe Manchin has scheduled a press conference Wednesday morning where he is expected to announce that the state is filing suit against the federal government over the Obama administration’s crackdown on mountaintop removal coal mining.

Any more distancing and Manchin will switch parties.

October surprise!

Suggested new slogan for John Raese: Keep Joe Manchin where he is to continue his legal fight against Obama!

Joe Kerry Manchin was for it before he was against it.

I think Joe should announce himself as both a Tea Party candidate, an independent candidate, and a write-in candidate....heck, maybe even a progressive candidate, a socialist candidate, a Green Party candidate, and then...maybe only then...could he win.

This should be in the ‘breaking news’ sidebar, IMO. The repercussions from this press conference could really hurt Democrats next month.

Just more stagecraft. When the elections are over then suddenly in a lame-duck session the suit will be dropped.

Yep, just like the Senator from West Virginia, Robert Byrd, according to Former Pres. Bill Clinton.

Just more stagecraft. When the elections are over then suddenly in a lame-duck session the suit will be dropped.

The winner of this election gets sworn in as soon as the election is certified by the state secretarty of state, because the current office holder was appointed to fill the seat vacated by the death of Robert Byrd. The GOP could be in a good position to rein in or shut down a lame duck session by picking up senate seats in the special elections to replace appointed senators. If we could pick up some seats in DE (Biden's old seat), IL (Obama's old seat), NY (Hillary Clinton's old seat), and WV Byrd's old seat), the GOP would be in a position to filibuster anything coming out of a lame duck session.

A lawsuit that will dropped if Joe wins.

Manchin might have some credibility if he joins the birthers.

LOL

Your Post seems the best thought out. We need to hold the Lame Duck session to a minimum of bad legislation, and I believe what you say is the best way to do it.

And besides I dont know Joe and I don’t trust what I don’t know.

John Raese says:************

“As a steadfast supporter of conservative candidates, you know what’s at stake in the West Virginia Senate race.

Joe Manchin’s been knocked back on his heels by polls that show me beating him, most recently a Rasmussen poll on Tuesday showing me in the lead by 48% to 46%. So Manchin has taken to lying about his position about Obamacare. In March, he was West Virginia’s #1 cheerleader for Barack Obama’s health care takeover, saying flat out “I’d be for it.” This week, he said he would have voted against the final bill.

So, Joe, which is it?

I’m running for the United States Senate because we need a true conservative to represent West Virginia in Washington, not a rubber stamp to Barack Obama.

Here’s why this race matters to you. If we win a seat the Democrats thought they had in the bag just a few weeks ago, Republicans will be well-positioned to take the majority in the U.S. Senate. This could be the 51st Republican seat that stops the Obama Agenda and starts the repeal of Obamacare!

Today, we’re rallying conservatives all across the country with our “51 to Repeal” moneybomb. I want to be the 51st vote that starts the process of repealing this disastrous Obamacare bill. The number 51 is also fitting because it’s the number of years since West Virginia — a conservative state — has had a Republican U.S. Senator.

Before you invest in my campaign, you have a right to know where I stand. I’m a proud, life-long, down-the-line conservative businessman who’ll stand up to Big Government takeovers, end the wasteful spending, stand for life, and always defend your Second Amendment rights. There won’t be any doubt how I’ll vote in the U.S. Senate.

The last few days have made it clear what kind of Senator Joe Manchin would be: someone who will cave to political expediency and put your interests dead last. In Washington, that will mean giving in to Barack Obama and the national Democrat leadership just like the “conservative” Democrats who gave us the Louisiana Purchase and Cornhusker Kickback and delivered Obamacare to begin with.

West Virginia can’t take a risk like that. Not with so much at stake.

In 2010, we can make history. We can elect a Republican Senator here in West Virginia for the first time in half a century as part of a conservative wave that takes back Congress and begins undoing the ruin Big Government policies have done to our economy.

Will you help make it happen?”

The Raese Plan for Job Growth(2)

POSTED BY RAESE4WV ON AUGUST 3RD, 2010 |

CATEGORIZED AS THE RAESE PLAN

The core of the Raese for Senate campaign is completely focused on the single fact that our government must immediately be disciplined so that it works for us – the citizens – not the other way around. Any government, which ceases to reflect the will of its citizens, must be challenged and then replaced.

We are determined to carry this truth into the 2010 U.S. Senate race in West Virginia. We are happy warriors and steadfast advocates for bringing fiscal sanity to Washington, D.C. and creating an environment that will foster an explosion of well-paying private sector jobs across our state and nation. This is necessary if we are ever to escape the ravages of the current severe recession:

Unshackle our businesses, small and large, by eliminating unnecessary regulation and taxes while streamlining those that will remain. West Virginia businesses will respond by increasing their production, services, and hiring. Misguided “stimulus” packages create debt obligations that misdirect resources and create debt obligations that will only hinder confidence and burden following generations.
Attack big government spending, by holding up to public scrutiny those federal government projects which are merely political favors and pork barrel projects which exist solely to re-elect incumbent members of Congress. We must eliminate all unnecessary government spending if we are serious in reducing the average American’s tax burden and creating opportunities – not debt burdens for the next generation of Americans. (And isn’t it about time?)
Protect and stimulate American competitiveness, both here at home and around the world. But we won’t get there by propping up businesses with huge bailouts. Rather, a renewed competitive spirit must be fostered through creating a dynamic business environment. Our government must begin acting in a fair and predictable way toward our job creators. Such an environment will give our businesses the opportunity to compete and win in the global marketplace or on Main Street, U.S.A.
THIS IS AMERICA! We invented creativity and drive in the 20th Century marketplace, and we can do so again. To do so, we must have the political change necessary to create the environment where private sector jobs are created to overcome Obama’s continual recession. Your participation is essential – no matter where you are, what you do, or whether you have ever before been involved in a political campaign.

2010 is the year when you have the chance to make a huge difference in the future of West Virginia.

Join us by electing John Raese to the U.S. Senate on August 28th (Primary special election with early voting from Friday, August 20 to Wednesday, August 25) and November 2nd (General special election). Let’s send John to Washington where he can fight every day for a better economic future for all West Virginians!

He will do it.

HA! Some website (ace of spades maybe) posted a Milton Friedman quote the other week about how the electorate generally doesn’t change policy by voting in the right people but by getting the wrong people to do the right thing through political pressure.

...Not that it’s not even better to have the right people imo but this is the next best thing...policy-wise.

Good ole Joe.

Was for obamacare, now wants to repeal it.

Never said a word about the Feds stopping mountain top mining, now is going to sue the Feds.

Was for the stimulus plan, now is against it.

What caused ole Joe to change his mind?

The voters of West Virginia.
